And so begins another school year! Again with the rush of getting haircuts, sports physicals, shoes that fit well and look good, clothes we can all agree on, accounting for the proper number of folders, notebooks, erasers, pencils, and the right colors of pens! Whew! I’m tired just thinking about doing all that work again! So, I am wondering which of my fellow alumni are considering coming to my house next year to take care of all of this for me, like in the form of a door-to-door sales call? Anyone? I think it sounds like an incredible business opportunity! Is your information correct in the University’s records? Alumni who will be in Wichita for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, are welcome to ride motorcycles or drive cars in the parade. Join other alums as they sing the National Anthem before the football game! Kids are welcome to send their coloring contest entry to win a Crayola® Color Wonder Sound Studio. Entry forms can be found on page 22 of the 2011 summer issue of the Focus magazine. On a final note, my 15-year-old son, Connor,
is starting in a new school as a sophomore this year. He had been in school with the same kids his whole life, but – as life goes – he’s starting over for his sophomore, junior and senior years of high school. On top of that, his big brother moved out. And in the same manner, he’s had his big brother his whole life. If you can imagine, Connor is feeling a little lost right now. So with those of you that have room on your prayer list, please add my son Connor, as he struggles not only with growing older but also with finding his place in his new life. And Kielan, my oldest son, graduated from high school last year and left for Marine Corps boot camp on July 31. He could use your prayers too. Do I have fellow OML graduates struggling with chapters in their lives? Is someone close to you struggling? Write to let me know which of your prayers I can add to our next newsletter. I know there is strength in numbers. Godspeed.
