In memory of those friends who we have recently lost: • L. Lois Marler, G’47, passed away Jan. 26, 2010. • Patty (Staunton) Hadley Baker, G’47, passed away Feb. 26, 2010. • Ralph Chance, G’41, passed away April 7, 2010. • James McClure, FS’42, passed away April 20, 2010. • Charles Monson, G’41, passed away July 27, 2010. Friends named four finalists in its search to replace long-time president, Dr. Biff Green, who will retire June 30, 2011. Since fall 2010, members of the Presidential Search Committee have been working to identify Friends’ next president. The candidates were selected from an original pool of more than 70 applicants. The finalists are as follows: • Dr. Deneese Jones • Dr. Tom Keon • Dr. TJ Arant • Dr. William Berry The Board of Trustees will make their final selection this spring, and the new leader of Friends University will start July 1.
2011 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees Announced Congratulations to the following alumni athletes and Falcon supporters that were inducted into the Friends University Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday, February 12: • Morris Lolar, G’03/M’10 – football • Barry Cobb, G’93 – baseball • Tammy Brewer, G’95 – soccer • Dr. Biff Green, Friends University President 1991-2011. The Friends University Fine Arts Office is looking for alumni to help usher at various performances at the Wichita campus this spring. Volunteers will receive free admission to the performance and are asked to stay for the entire performance to assist with intermission. For more information or to volunteer, please e-mail the Alumni Office at alumni@friends.edu. Easter Egg Hunts Right Around the Corner! Plans are already underway for the annual Friends University Easter Egg Hunts at our Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City campuses! The northeast Kansas hunts will take place Saturday, April 16; the Wichita hunt will take place Saturday, April 23.
