From Your Class Agent Congratulations to Shawny (Jaeckel) Montgomery, G’91, on being named the Kansas Art Education Association’s Outstanding Kansas Secondary Art Educator of the Year for 2010. She currently teaches at Cheney High School. Danny Darrington, G’99/M’04, and the Mayberry Middle School Choir have been invited by the Distinguished Concerts International in New York City to participate in a performance of music for youth choruses on April 20, 2011 at the Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.

Our condolences go to the family and friends of Shelley Webster-Johnson, G’95. She passed away Oct. 29, 2010 in Wichita. She was a professional photographer and loved spending time with her husband, Van, and their son, Joshua. Friends named four finalists in its search to replace long-time president, Dr. Biff Green, who will retire June 30, 2011. Since fall 2010, members of the Presidential Search Committee have been working to identify Friends’ next president. The candidates were selected from an original pool of more than 70 applicants. The finalists are as follows: • Dr. Deneese Jones • Dr. Tom Keon • Dr. TJ Arant • Dr. William Berry The Board of Trustees will make their final selection this spring, and the new leader of
Friends University will start July 1. 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees Announced Congratulations to the following alumni athletes and Falcon supporters that were inducted into the Friends University Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday, February 12: • Morris Lolar, G’03/M’10 – football • Barry Cobb, G’93 – baseball • Tammy Brewer, G’95 – soccer • Dr. Biff Green, Friends University President 1991-2011. The Friends University Campus and Career Transitions Office is hosting its annual Career Fair Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Held in conjunction with Newman University, this fair will take place at the Newman Conference Center in Wichita. Plans are already underway for the annual Friends University Easter Egg Hunts at our Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City campuses! The northeast Kansas hunts will take place Saturday, April 16; the Wichita hunt will take place Saturday, April 23.
