Campus Connection

MMIS

From Your Class Agent Nicholas Bennington nbenning@sbcglobal.net

Winter greetings fellow MMIS alumni! I hope you are doing well and rang in the new year in style! The holidays were a bit more special this year along Kellogg with the Friends University Davis Administration clock tower brightly lit for the first time in 17 months. I’ve been told the roof restoration is nearly complete and the scaffolding should be removed soon. It’s nice to have our Wichita scenic landmark shining in all its glory. In other news, the search for a new Friends University president has been underway for a good portion of 2010. As you may recall, Dr. Biff Green announced his retirement last year so the University has been interviewing candidates and is now in their next phase of review. Hopefully by the time you read this newsletter, an announcement will be made on the University’s progress in the selection of a new president. In our next issue of Campus Connection, I plan to interview the MMIS director Dr. Mark Sanborn regarding the updates and changes that are currently taking place within the MMIS curriculum. If you have any specific questions about the program or the MMIS field in general, feel free to e-mail me your input. I will try to incorporate the feedback in our next issue. Being the first Campus Connection newsletter of the year, I usually ask readers to begin setting their new year’s resolutions, or more appropriately, goals for the coming year. But first let me ask you to reflect on the goals you made in January 2010. How many of you accomplished one of your

goals? Two? Three? Do you even remember what your goals were last year? Research shows that had you not written your goals down on a piece of paper and reviewed those goals on a consistent basis, more than likely you did not achieve it. I made a list of goals/dreams last year and haphazardly reviewed them throughout the year. To my surprise I did semi-accomplish several goals or at least made significant headway in completing them. Such as: • Own a 2010 911 Porsche. Well I didn’t exactly get a Porsche, but I did purchase a new Mazda3 this past summer. • Be in a loving relationship. I became engaged to my girlfriend, Rose, in March of 2010. We also attended a Love and Logic relationship class. • Become completely debt free by the end of the year. I did make efforts of reducing debt and my fiancee and I completed a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace course at our local church. • Lose 20 pounds by the end of the year. Well... three out of four isn’t too bad. Like many of you, this goal will be carried over to 2011. The point is, when you make your resolutions or goals for the new year, be sure to write them down and review your list every morning and evening. You will be surprised how opportunities will come your way!
