The Christmas lights were on the Davis Administration Building during the past holiday season. My wife and I drove around the Friends University Wichita campus to view the beautiful campus. The recent Friends Focus cover page showed the Davis Administration clock tower with scaffolds for the workers. On the upper left corner, the crane was delivering slate tiles for the roof. It was July 2009 when the roof was destroyed with very large hailstones. It was nice to see the Davis Administration Building roof replaced in time for the Christmas lights this year. Lynn Bloxsom Haltom, G’01/M’03, recently completed coursework to achieve her senior real estate specialist designation. Lynn is associated with Weichert Realtors Compass Point. She is qualified to work with seniors, especially those with accessibility issues. Rosann O’Dell, M’05, and her husband, Brandon, own Friend That Cooks Home Chef Service. Their business provides personal chef services to families and individuals. They started their company in 2007. Their business has grown and expanded to serve the Kansas City area.
Derek Kreifels, M’03, was named by Kansas Treasurer-elect Ron Estes to serve on the transition team to ensure a smooth transition between Estes and the outgoing Treasurer Dennis McKinney. The transition team will ensure the transition is seamless as possible. Kreifels also served as Estes’ campaign manager. Kreifels will also serve as assistant state treasurer. Plans are already underway for the annual Friends University Easter Egg Hunts at our Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City campuses. The Topeka and Kansas City hunts will take place Saturday, April 16; the Wichita hunt will take place Saturday, April 23. The hunts are always fun for children and adults alike. Interested in attending a Fine Arts performance for free? The Friends University Fine Arts Office is looking for alumni to help usher at various performances at the Wichita campus this spring. Volunteers will receive free admission to the performance and are asked to stay for the entire performance to assist with intermission. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the Alumni Office. If you have changed jobs, moved, or have other personal news to share, please e-mail me at larispickett@gmail.com
