Did You Hear About the Davis-Moore Scholarship? If you are a member of the Friends University Alumni Facebook group, you may remember that local Wichita car dealership Davis-Moore sponsored May as Education Month. (To view the commercial online, go to http://blog.davis-moore. com/tag/50-donation.) What this meant is anyone who purchased a car could pick a university of their choice to have Davis-Moore donate $50 to on their behalf. Thanks to the 43 persons who selected Friends, one lucky student will have the opportunity to receive a $2,150 scholarship for their studies this fall! Speaking of Facebook ... Have you joined the Friends University Alumni group yet? It’s a great way to keep in contact with fellow alumni as well as stay in the know about university news.
Calling All Alumni Authors! Have you recently published a book? If so, the Alumni Office is looking to showcase your work in a special night of readings in spring 2011. For more information, please contact the Alumni Office at alumni@friends.edu. Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Selects Preferred Higher Education Provider Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation has selected Friends University as the preferred education provider for the tribal community. As part of the agreement, the University will provide adult education programs at the associate, bachelor and graduate levels to tribal members. The Tribal Council reported they are very pleased about the new partnership with Friends University, and they are looking forward to working with the University to offer and develop programming options that meet their tribal members’ educational needs. The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation will be the first tribe in Kansas to partner with a university to provide an onsite classroom for their tribal members to obtain higher education. Tribal members living on the reservation or within the local area will now have the opportunity to complete a degree program on the reservation.
