Hello Friends!
I am just about half-through my summer break, but by the time you read this, most of us will already be back at work. Teachers greet each August with anticipation, excitement, a hint of trepidation and no matter who we are, we silently count the days until our next day off. Personally, I once again find myself carrying boxes out of my basement, taking them to a new classroom and beginning yet another new adventure teaching 5th grade at Cleaveland Elementary. I am thrilled to be back in the elementary classroom. Maybe my boxes will stay there for a few years.

We were pleased to hear from fellow alumna Denise Davis, M’94. Denise tells us that her daughter, Lenora Allison, graduated from Friends University last year. Her son, Chad Irvin, is a current Friends student and is active in Singing Quakers and theater. Thank you for sharing with us, Denise. Friends welcomed a new president, Dr. T.J. Arant to campus this past spring. With the new president comes a new presence in the adjoining Delano neighborhood. Delano began as the wilder side of Wichita back in the 1870’s. Proper Wichitans often came to the east banks of the Arkansas River with a picnic lunch just to watch the wild goings on over in Delano. Nowadays, Delano is a booming niche in the Wichita art world. Friends has become a part of that niche by purchasing two buildings to
