“Faith is not something to grasp, it is a state to grow into.” - Mohandas Gandhi
I just do not know where the months and year goes, as it seems to pass so rapidly that I forget I lived each day. And it does seem that the fabric of my life is just a repetition of chores, working, and other routine daily activities that just become a blur, so much so that I can barely remember sometimes what I did yesterday. This must improve, so I am thinking about a New Year’s resolution I can make and keep. As we begin 2012, I am determined not to be dismayed by all the prophecies of “doom and gloom.” It seems that our world will come to an end or violently change through great cataclysmic events. It is said that 2012, the Chinese Year of the Black Water Dragon, will be a year of mixed fortunes. From the little research I have done, I found many ominous predictions; the amount of them alone could give rise to concern: • • • • •
Maya Long Count Calendar Egyptian Prophecy Nostradamus Prophecy Hindu Prophecy Hopi Prophecy
•
Planet X (or Nibiru) is the comet planet that will collide with and destroy the earth.
Wow! With all these predictions of doom, I should think about a serious resolution with purpose. For example, no more empty resolution promises that I will exercise more or that I will eat more healthy. I think I should make a resolution so that my life is less a blur and more a sense of satisfaction. I wonder what it will be. Care to share what yours is? Unfortunately, in this issue of our class newsletter, I have sad news to share on the passing of two of our fellow alumni who will be lovingly missed: •
Steven Quattlebaum, G’04, of Topeka, Kan., passed away April 8, 2011.
•
Diana (Coleman) Rhoades, G’98/’01, of Houston (formerly of Wichita and Kansas City), passed away Sept. 9, 2011.
As always, you can keep the Alumni Office posted of your endeavors by completing the information on the top of page 2 of this newsletter.
