When the Alumni Office said they were looking for an MHCL graduate to volunteer to write for the class newsletter, I offered to take on the role myself. The program has established some new outcomes that we will be measuring in the future.

One of the new program goals is to track the “professional upward mobility” of MHCL students and graduates. Our current percentage of students that have experienced upward mobility is 46 percent. We want to continue to see this rate improve, and, for that reason, I will be assuming the alumni newsletter volunteer role to better track our graduates’ successes. Speaking of successful alumni, congratulations to our former class agent, Ken Allensworth, M’08. Ken was promoted to Associate Director of the West Texas VA Health Care System, effective Oct. 1, 2011. Ken is now located in Big Springs, Texas.

Bob Harvey MHCL Program Director harveyro@friends.edu You are invited to the inauguration of President Dr. T.J. Arant.

Congratulations to Jaime Leyden, M’11. Jaime was recently promoted to supervisor of fraud and abuse for Coventry Health Care. Jaime’s capstone project was the first internship project ever done with Coventry.

Congratulations also to Travis Booe, M’08. Travis accepted a position with Hutchinson Community College as the Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Travis developed the program and graduated his first class in April 2011. The program is accredited through the Commission of Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Last but certainly not least, congratulations to Cathy Rider, M’08, on her recent promotion to physician relations coordinator at Via Christi Health. Cathy began her duties Dec. 5, 2011. Cathy also continues to be an important member of our adjunct faculty. If you have any news regarding job changes or promotions, please feel free to either send me an email or you may also use the form on page 2 of this newsletter to update your information. Simply mail it back to the Alumni Office and they will make sure I receive it.
