Friends University Wichita Alumni Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship Honoring James Arbertha In the fall of 2007, the Friends University Wichita Alumni Advisory Board was introduced to James Arbertha, executive director of POWER CDC (People Organized Working for Economic Recovery) for housing/business development and community rebuilding. Because Arbertha has worked on that community’s rejuvenation process since 1994, he and other leaders came to understand that education is a necessity for that community to be self-sustaining as well as to demonstrate that it can be a vital part of the entire Wichita community. On April 7, 2009, the “Friends University Wichita Alumni Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship Honoring James Arbertha” was established. The scholarship is designed to cover no less than 50 percent of the current academic year’s tuition and fees. Scholarship recipients must: • reside within the established boundaries in northeast Wichita for a minimum of 12 months; • be between the ages of 17 and 22; • and have a GPA of at least 2.0 and/or ACT composite score of 18. For more information about this scholarship, call the Alumni Office at 316-295-5900.
