Master of Education Tracks Special Education High Incidence PreK-12 The Graduate School at Friends University offers a PreK-12 HighIncidence Special Education licensure program approved by the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE). Encompassing grade levels preK12, the endorsement program, completed in one year, addresses the new KSDE special education standards for licensure and will prepare students to adapt curriculum to fit the needs of all students and to complete the KSDE licensure requirements. The program is designed for individuals who already possess a teaching license and who want to teach preschool through twelfth-grade students with high-incidence disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, mild or moderate mental retardation, communication disorders, and behavior or emotional disorders). The program reflects the latest work in the filed and is taught by practitioners.

Teaching and Learning The Teaching and Learning specialization includes a cutting-edge core focused on current trends, learning, performance and assessment. It focuses on the practical application of classroom learning-teaching skills, student advocacy, meeting the learning and assessment needs of all students and the best of theory and practice. Each student, with a faculty advisor, designs an individualized plan for a research study that is targeted, relevant and immediately applicable.
