Student Affairs at Friends University

Campus Life

Multicultural Engagement

Student Government Association

Multicultural Engagement partners with students and university personnel to provide meaningful cross-cultural experiences. This is demonstrated through student programming, faculty and student diversity training, and collaborating with community partners. The overall goals are to increase cultural awareness and build a support network for students that will prepare them to engage in a global workforce. In addition, the Director of Multicultural Engagement provides support to our international students.

The Friends University Student Government Association (SGA) serves the student body by enhancing the student experience through programming and outreach. SGA also provides opportunities for students to grow as leaders by promoting a community of integrity, serving as a resource for students to achieve their goals and providing transparency with Friends University administration. Falcon Activities and Campus Events Falcon Activities and Campus Events (FACE) is the main programming board for students at Friends University. FACE’s primary objective is to present a schedule of events that delivers a holistic experience to the members of the Friends University community and to be a collaborative resource for all students, faculty and staff. @friendsu_face @friendsu_face Falcon Activities and Campus Events

Falcon Student Organizations The collection of clubs on campus. Clubs host events, meetings, and go on trips. They also participate in university traditions like Homecoming and Ceremony of Lights.

Student Council The liason between students and departments on campus. Get involved with these committees: Athletics, Casado Food/Food Pantry, Commuters, Fine Arts, and Residence Life.

Campus Recreation Intramurals Falcon Intramurals hosts forty-two different intramural activities throughout the school year, ranging from Fantasy Football to basketball to softball and everything in-between. Intramural registration for interested participants is completed through IMLeagues or by stopping at the intramural table in Casado and filling out an entry form. If you need assistance registering on IMLeagues, or finding a team, the intramural staff will help with any challenges that might arise. You can either stop by lower Casado to visit with the intramural staff, or contact them at intramural@friends.edu. @FalconIMs Falcon Intramurals

Club Sports Club Sports is recently new to the recreation programs at Friends University. Club Sports is a student-led organization of like-minded individuals wanting to participate in activities like soccer, ultimate Frisbee, floor hockey or video games – the opportunities are endless. If interested in joining a current Club Sport team or creating a new Club Sport, please stop by Casado Lower Level and see Allen Eberwein.

Wellness Programming

Security

Wellness programs on campus consist of hosting three blood drives per year and coordinating the health/benefits fair. The blood drives are hosted as a way to help benefit Wichita and surrounding communities. The health/ benefits fair is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn about different agencies and techniques available to stay healthy.

Friends University wants to ensure our campus and sites will remain safe places for students, faculty, staff and guests. The Friends security department consists of a full-time security director, law enforcement officers and security officers. The department is authorized to enforce laws and policies on university property. The Friends security department complies with the reporting requirements of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, has close working relations with the Wichita Police Department and cooperates with all law enforcement agencies.

Residence Life Living on campus is one of the best ways to get plugged into campus life, cultivate lasting relationships and explore all that Friends University has to offer. Here are more details about residence life: • All first-year students are required to live on campus. • Residential housing is available for all traditional undergraduate and adult students. • Studies show students who live on campus get better grades, have higher graduation rates, expand social life on campus and build lasting friendships. • Residence life has programs with goals based on overall wellness including civic responsibility, academics, diversity, health and wellness and social and professional development. • View floor plans at: friends.edu/housing-options. • Complete housing applications at: friends.edu/housing-application. Residence Life offices are located in Green Residence Hall and Friends Village. To learn more about our various campus activities or housing options, contact any of the Residence Life staff or connect with us at reslife@friends.edu or 316-295-5500. @friendsu_reslife
