Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, We are excited to return to Ireland in 2018. Starting with our inaugural hosted departure several years ago, we’ve been delighted and pleasantly surprised to find fish in the 12 - 20 inch range consistently feeding on blue winged olives and caddis. To be honest, the fishing is much better in Ireland than we expected with quality trout water, good size fish and always the chance for a big fish. We will be met in Dublin and driven by private coach to Ballynahinch Castle where we will start our trip with two days of salmon fishing on the lovely Owenmore River, which flows through the castle estate. The castle, built in 1756 and once the home of Grace O’Malley, pirate queen of Connaught and her husband, “Humanity Dick Martin,” has been completely renovated and is now a world-renowned hotel and sporting estate. No waders needed here as footbridges and stiles on all the beats add to the ease of access. It’s not a big river and anglers cast from “angling piers” along the river. The overall experience is quite civilized and there is nothing better than meeting in the pub with the guides for a pint after fishing. From Ballynahinch we will travel across the country taking the scenic coastal route to Conmel. The fishing program in Clonmel is quite different as we stay in a lovely country hotel and are delivered by private coach to Andrew Ryan’s fly shop each morning to meet our guides. In the evening, we are delivered back to the hotel. It’s a wonderful three days of fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the highly saturated green rolling hills and valleys of eastern Ireland. The small to medium size chalk streams are fairly easy to wade and navigate. There is something truly special about the “Emerald Isle.” The country is incredibly beautiful, complemented with warm Irish hospitality, great fisheries and a group of ghillies who are genuine characters and wonderful meals and accommodations waiting for us each evening. The non anglers are in for a real treat with a private tour guide and coach and will come to dinner each night with stories of their own adventures. We do hope you’ll consider joining us. We look forward to sharing Ireland with you on our trip. Sincerely,
Barry & Cathy Beck

Two full days of guided fly fishing at Ballynahinch. The catchment drains an area of 68 square miles and is a diverse system of intercalated loughs and rivers, drained by the Ballynahinch River. This majestic river with fishing rights owned exclusively by the Ballynahinch Estate winds its way underneath the castle for 3 kilometers until it reaches the wild Atlantic Ocean at Bertraghboy Bay. First and foremost, Ballynahinch is an Atlantic salmon fishery. The larger spring salmon average approximately 10 pounds. As we move into the summer months, the fishing is at its best. There are still fresh salmon and grillse. By international standards, the grillse are quite large—averaging six to seven pounds and up to nine pounds. There is also good sea trout fishing— particularly from early June until the end of July. Trout fishing can also be arranged. This area of Ireland is widely considered the prettiest in the country! Nonfishers will enjoy the coastal reaches of Connemara, the National Park, the Wild Atlantic Way up into County Donegal, and a wide range of other activities. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Lunches are provided and dinner will be served at the hotel.
