Dear Friends, This sixth edition of “Creative Visions” is the result of County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez and his hard-working staff bringing together Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade County Public School System and the State of Florida through Florida International University, in a truly unique partnership that engages students in creative pursuits. Involving students in cultural activities is critical for their development. Independent studies show that kids that enjoy the benefit of arts education are far more likely to stay in school and score much higher on standardized tests. The arts are one of the keys to success in life. Some artists work a lifetime for an exhibition in a museum. Each of the talented young students participating in Creative Visions 2009 has accomplished this already at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum. Congratulations to all the students, their families and the teachers who make it all happen. We applaud the talented young artists in District 11! Sincerely,
Michael Spring

The 6th annual Creative Visions Exhibition once again celebrates the collaboration from several government partners in the City of Miami. The partnership, established by Joe A. Martinez, Chairman, Board of County Commissioners, District 11; Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Division of Social Sciences and Life Skills; Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs Office and the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University, represents the formidable relationships within a community which supports visual arts programs for students in grades K-12 and recognizes the program as a vital component of the core curriculum. The success of this exhibition can be attributed to the visual arts students whose talents are unsurpassed and their creativity is immeasurable. The concisely constructed lessons delivered by our talented art educators have resulted in an array of exemplary artwork which incorporates an assortment of media presented in two and three-dimensional formats. We congratulate the students for their exceptional artwork, and the art educators for their continued dedication to the profession of art education. We encourage you to delight your visual senses with our students amazing talents! Sincerely,
Mabel Morales District Supervisor, Art Division of Social Sciences and Life Skills Miami-Dade County Public Schools MM:mm L030
