A Tom Hormel Music Celebration Thomas Dubois Hormel has had a prolific life creating art, sculpture and photographic works. In addition, he composed his first song, “Blue September,” when he was just fourteen, nearly 75 years ago. It is only in recent years that his considerable talents have become more known to the world. Thomas’ orchestral suite, “New York Variations” was recorded at the 20th Century Fox Studios with the Hollywood Studio Orchestra. In a joint effort, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra performed and Graham 2 danced his moving ballet, “The Legend of Bird Mountain” which was initially recorded by the Prague Symphony Orchestra. The Cape Cod Symphony Tom Hormel and the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra of Los Angeles performed his orchestral composition, “Go for Baroque.” This joyous celebration of Mr. Hormel’s wide range of styles inspired by jazz and classical music will showcase the talents of the Henry Mancini Institute’s Big Band and Orchestra, as well as Shelly Berg, Dean of Frost School of Music. $ FREE/Ticket Required
