Because of its gastronomy Moroccan cuisine is based on popular flavours and dishes and on its culinary legacy throughout generations. It is a simple cuisine with its own personality. One of its main features is the use of sweet and salty flavours in its dishes as it is the case of couscous or Tajine, an exquisite fusion of nuts, vegetables, beef and spices, which makes of the gastronomic experience in Morocco a long-lasting memory for your senses. Because of its culture Morocco, given its characteristic enclave and location has been and still is a country rich in culture and legates from other civilizations. During its history it has welcomed different peoples and cultures such as Jews, Phoenicians or Arabs who have each of them imprinted part of their essence in the country and its people.

Because of its contrasts With a population of nearly 32 million inhabitants, Morocco enjoys a national pride which its people demonstrates. The Sahara Dessert, with more than 9 million squared kilometres (nearly the same extension as China), extends from Morocco to Sudan. Given its attractiveness for tourists and its millions of visitors each year, Morocco is the main starting point to explore the Sahara Dessert in Morocco. The two most important areas of the Moroccan Sahara Dessert are Zagora and Merzouga. Because of its customs Morocco still preserves endless traditions and customs due to its great influence and cultural diversity. Tourists visiting Morocco return fascinated by the famous tea ritual. Among its population, tea consumption is broadly extended in addition to being a symbol of mutual respect and hospitality.

Useful information Documentation EU citizens must have a valid passport to travel to Morocco. Citizens of other nationalities will have to check with the Embassy of Morocco as certain nationalities will also require a visa. Time difference During most of the year, Morocco is one hour behind Spain. Language Arabic is the official language. Most of the population speaks French and in some areas, particularly in the North, they speak Spanish. Currency The Dirham (Dh.) is the official currency in Morocco. Hotels The star-rating of each hotel does not always coincide with that of the Spanish hotel sector, it also varies in each city. Ferries The trips from Tarifa to Tangier Ville and from Algeciras to Ceuta are on a Fast Ferry with a duration of approximately 4550 minutes. The trip from Algeciras to Tangier MED are on a conventional ferry with a duration of approximately 90 minutes.

Summary of guarantees of the policy nº 698/427 subscribed by FRS 1. Transport and medical repatriation in the event of illness or accident of Holder to a medical centre duly equipped or to his country or place of residence. 2. Medical assistance (hospital admission expenses, surgical operations, medical fees, nursing care and pharmaceutical costs) in the event of illness or accident of the Holder abroad (up to €3,000,00 maximum). Mapfre Insurance Cancellation Cancellation insurance: Insurance offered to the client in case of cancellation of travel. Guarantees covered by policy 661/183 Cancellation expenses (up to 100% of the amount contracted) 1. Cancellation expenses of the travel This guarantee shall be valid from the date of the contracting of the trip and shall terminate upon the beginning of the boarding in the collective transport to be used for such trip. It shall only be valid when contracted at the same time as the trip object of the insurance. The Company shall refund up to the limit established in the Special Conditions, the cancellation expenses of the trip invoiced to the Holder under the general conditions of sale of the supplier insofar as the trip is cancelled before its beginning and for one of the following causes arising after the subscription of the insurance hindering the development of the trip on the dates contracted: a) Serious illness, serious physical accident or death of the Holder or his family members.

9. Delivery of urgent messages.

b) Cancellation of trip of the person accompanying the Holder being insured by this same contract insofar as this cancellation is due to one of the causes listed above and insofar as the Holder has to travel on his own o when the Holder is a minor or disabled. Should the Holder decide to travel on his own, all additional expenses for any Single supplement shall be covered.

10. Compensation in the event of theft of luggage held by the transporting company (up to €150.00 maximum).
