The Martyrdom of Saint Mari-Mina, the Wonder Worker األيام إىل الكنيسة يف عيد السيدة البتول 24th November - 15th Hator ونظرت األوالد، والدة اإلله الكائنة باتريب On this day St. Mina, who is called the blessed faithful, يف الكنيسة مبالبسهم النظيفة مع والديهم was martyred. His father, Eudoxius, was a native of the city فأنها تنهدت وبكت أمام صورة السيدة of Nakiyos (Nikiu) and was its Governor. His brother was العذراء متوسلة بها إىل ابنها الحبيب إن envious of him and he brought charges against him before فخرج صوت من الصورة قائال، يرزقها ولدا the Emperor. The Emperor transferred him to Afrikia and ap ففرحت مبا سمعت وتحققت، »«امني pointed him Governor over it. The people were pleased with وملا عادت، إن الرب قد استجاب صالتها him because he was merciful and God-fearing. قال له، إىل منزلها وأخربت زوجها بذلك His mother Euphemia had no children. One day she went to هذا وقد رزقهام هللا، »«فلتكن إرادة هللا church on the feast of our Lady, the Virgin, the Mother of الذي القديس فأسمياه مينا كالصوت God, at Attribes. She saw the children in the church wearing الكتابة وملا نشا علامه، سمعته والدته their beautiful clothes with their parents. She heaved a sigh وملا بلغ، وهذباه باآلداب املسيحية and wept before the icon of Our Lady St. Mary, entreating من العمر إحدى عرشة سنة تويف والده her to intercede for her before her beloved Son, in order that ثم والدته بعد ثالث، بشيخوخة صالحة He would give her a son. A voice came from the icon saying, “Amen.” She rejoiced in what she had heard and realized that فكرس هذا القديس حياته للصوم، سنوات حتى انه من، والصالة والسلوك املستقيم the Lord had heard her prayers. When she returned to her home and told her husband about it, he replied, “May God’s ، أقاموه مكان أبيه، حب الجميع له وألبيه وملا، ومع هذا فانه مل يتخل عن عبادته Will be done.” ارتد دقلديانوس واصدر أوامره بعبادة The Lord gave them this saint and they called him Mina, according to the voice that his mother heard. He heard a voice saying, “He who رأسه بحد السيف وطرح الجسد يف النار toils for the Name of the Lord Christ shall receive these crowns.” He returned to the city over which he was Governor فلبث الجسد، وتذرية رماده يف الرياح، and confessed the Name of the Lord Christ. Knowing that he ، فيها ثالثة ايام وثالث ليال مل ينله فساد فتقدمت أخته وبذلت أمواال كثرية للجند belonged to a noble family, they tried to dissuade him from ( ووضعته يف فرد، حتى آخذت الجسد his faith and promised him honors and precious gifts. When جوال ) خوص وعزمت عيل التوجه إىل he did not change his mind, they threatened him and the Governor ordered him to be tortured. The body remained in the fire for three days and وبينام، القديس إىل هللا واستشفعت بأخيها three nights, but it was not harmed. كان الركاب يف فزع واضطراب خرجت His sister came and gave the soldiers a lot of money and they ، نار من الجسد إىل وجوه تلك الوحوش let her take the body. She put it in a sack made of fronds and وملا عادت إىل، فغطست لوقتها يف املاء decided to go to Alexandria, as her brother had previously فغطست ، الظهور ثانية لحقتها النار ايضا advised her. There they heard a voice saying, الوايل عيل عدم إرجاع جسد القديس إىل مكانه “This is the place where the Lord wishes the body of his وفيام هم، األصيل وأراد أخذه إىل اإلسكندرية beloved Mina to be placed.” They lowered the body and سائرون مروا يف طريقهم عيل بحرية بياض مكانه placed it in a coffin, then they situated it in a beautiful فربك الجمل الحامل له ومل يربح مكانه، األصيل garden and many miracles happened through the body. فنقلوه عيل جمل ثان، رغم الرضب الكثري Later on, the people of Pentapolis (the five cities) rose فتحقق إن هذا، فلم يتحرك من مكانه ايضا against the cities around Alexandria. The people were ثم صنع تابوتا من الخشب الذي، أمر الرب getting ready to face the Berbers, and ال يسوس ووضع فيه التابوت الفضة ووضعه the Governor decided to take the body وملا، وتبارك منه وسافر إىل مدينته، يف مكانه of St. Mina with him to be his deliverer and his strong pro- أراد الرب إظهار جسده املقدس كان يف الربية tector. He took the body secretly and through the blessراعي غنم قد غطس منه يوما ما خروف اجرب ings of this saint, he overcame the Berbers and returned يف بركة ماء كانت بجانب املكان الذي به جسد victorious. ثم خرج ومترغ يف تراب ذلك املكان، القديس The Governor decided not to return the body of the Saint األعجوبة فلام عاين الراعي هذه، فربئ يف الحال to its original place and wanted to take it to Alexandria. On the way back, they passed by Lake Bayad, St. Mina’s بهت وصار يأخذ من تراب ذلك املكان ويسكب أو به، عيل املاء ويلطخ به كل خروف اجرب original place. The camel carrying the body knelt down وشاع هذا األمر يف كل، عاهة فيربا يف الحال and would not move in spite of frequent beatings. They ، األقاليم حتى سمع به ملك القسطنطينية moved the body over another camel, but again this second ، وكانت له ابنة وحيدة مصابة مبرض الجذام camel did not move from its place. The Governor finally واستعلمت من الراعي، فأرسلها أبوها إىل هناك realized that this was the Lord’s command. One day a sheep with mange وملا حفرت يف املكان وجدت الجسد، شفيت slipped down into the water of a well near the place of املقدس فأرسلت إىل والدها وأعلمته باألمر the saint’s body. The sheep then came out of the water وأرسل املال، ففرح كثريا وشكر هللا ومجد اسمه and rolled over in the sand of that place, and instantly the كرست يف، والرجال وبني يف ذلك املوضع كنيسة sheep was healed. When the shepherd saw this miracle, he ، اليوم الخامس عرش من شهر بؤونة was amazed. Guard your vineyard from birds and animals that spoil ....فثق the vineyard; flee from the useless lusts of the world. فكل البذور...أن العيب ليس فى البذور Beloved, if your fruit is little, then be confident. لقد أعطاك هللا....المستعملة جيدة The fault is not in the seeds. All the seeds used are ....الكلمة النافعة good. God has given you the beneficial word. فاالرض...وليس العيب فى األرض The fault is not in the earth; the whole earth is good. فقد خلق هللا االنسان....كلها جيدة God created man upright. And the fault is not in the air. ..... وليس العيب فى الجو....ًمستقيما The rain is abundant and the sun is abundant; the good ....فاالمطار غزيزة والشمس متوفرة spiritual atmosphere is present and available. الجو الروحى الصالح موجود The fault is really in you. You may neglect to take care .....ومتوفر of your land; you don’t guard it, you don’t fertilize فقد تهمل....انما العيب حقا ً فيك أنت it, you don’t care about it. + The Advent Fasting: Thursday 25th November the Advent Fasting started. It continues for 43 days and ends by the Feast of Holy Nativity at 7th January. It is allowed to eat fish during this fasting except on Wednesdays and Fridays and usually we abstain from food until 3pm. For those who got health reasons they can consult their father of confession. The Advent Fasting is a preparation for the Feast of Incarnation of our Lord. We fast 40 days taking an example of the Lord’s Fasting and from Moses Fasting for 40 days before receiving the Law and Commandments. We fast also extra three days in commemoration of the days fasted by people during the time of St Abraam the 62th Pope of Alexandria for the miracle of moving the mountain. The blessed month of Keiahk falls during the Advent days in which we sing and read all about the Incarnation of the Lord. Let us all pursue fasting in humility and repentance and offer our hearts to be holy sanctuary for our Lord the Child of the Manager the Incarnated Lord.

Saturday 8-10am St St John’s Church for nonvaccinated (30 persons) 9 - 11 at St Mary’s Church 85 person fully vaccinated Sunday: 7-9am & 9 - 11an at St Marys - 85 Sunday persons fully vaccinated. 9 -11am for 45 persons fully vaccinated at St Joh’s Church Please book at the Booking Application Very Important: It is very recommended thatThose who are not fully vaccinated produce a negative a COVID-19 Test two days before having communion. We need to protect everone including our fathers the priests and the church sevants.
