The Departure of St. Gregory, Patriarch of the Armenians. نياحة القديس غريغوريوس االرمنى 25 December – 15th Keiahk كيهك15 – ديسمرب٢٥ This day marks the departure of St. Gregory, the Patriarch يف مثل هذا اليوم تنيح القديس غريغوريوس of the Armenians who was a martyr, without bloodshed (A هذا. بطريرك األرمن والشهيد بغري سفك دم Confessor). This saint, as it was mentioned on the 19th day القديس كام ذكرنا يف اليوم التاسع عرش من of the Coptic month of Tute, was tortured by Tiridates, the قد عذبه تريداته ملك األرمن، شهر توت Armenian king, in the year 272 A.D. for disobeying the king م بسبب مخالفته له يف عبادة272 يف سنة and refusing to worship the idols. Amen. كيهك16 – ديسمرب٢٦ The Departure of the Righteous Gideon, One of the Judges قبل املسيح1349 يف مثل هذا اليوم من سنة of Israel. ، تنيح البار جدعون أحد قضاة بني إرسائيل 26 December – 16th Keiahk كان هذا القديس من سبط منيس واسم أبيه On this day, of the year 1349 B.C., the righteous Gideon, « ظهر له مالك الرب وقال له، يواش الرب one of the Judges of Israel, departed. He did so as the Lord commanded him. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This ولغوا وكان عدد الذين، « عيل ركبتيه للرشب one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of وأما باقي، بيدهم إىل فمهم ثالث مئة رجل whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the الشعب جميعا فجثوا عيل ركبهم ليرشب املاء same shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. The Lord God was with Gideon in all that وقد كان من ذوي الحسب والنسب، الربلس he did. وكان والداه يكرثان من، ومن نسل الكهنة He departed and was buried in the tomb of his father. وملا توفيا اخذ القديس،الصدقة عيل املساكني The Departure of St. John, Bishop of El-Borollos Who Gathered the Biographies of the Saints (The Synaxarion). ثم، يوحنا ما تركاه له وبني به فندقا للغرباء 29th December - 19th Keiahk جمع إليه املريض وكان يخدمهم بنفسه ويقدم On this day St. John, Bishop of El-Borollos, departed. He واتفق مجيء أحد، لهم كل ما يحتاجون إليه came from a wealthy family and from priestly ancestors. الرهبان إليه فرأي عمله الحسن واثني عليه His parents were charitable and gave generously to the poor. ، ثم مدح أمامه الرهبنة مبينا له رشفها، When they died, St. John took the money they left and built و بعد إن، فتعلق بها القديس ومال بقلبه إليها a hostel for strangers. He gathered the sick, served them himself, and offered them what they needed. قام القديس فوزع أمواله عيل، رحل الراهب Once a monk visited him and saw his good deeds, he praised وترهب، وذهب إىل برية شيهيت، املساكني him and praised monasticism in his presence, showing him its واشتهر، عند القديس دانيال قمص الربية honor. The saint was attracted to the monastic life and he had يف ثم انفرد، بحرارة العبادة والنسك الكثري a deep love in his heart for it. After the monk departed, the عيل مبني خاص فحسده الشيطان وجنوده saint distributed his wealth among the poor and went into the ورضبوه واجتمعوا عليه، حسن صنيعه هذا wilderness of “Shiheet” (Scetis). He became a monk under حتى انه ظل مريضا أياما كثرية، رضبا موجعا the guidance of St. Daniel the archpriest of the wilderness. He كام ابطل، ايضا من بالده بعد ما ابطل قوله commanded that the monk be beaten until he confessed his ، استعامل كتب كثرية رديئة sins and he drove him out of the country. Another claimed that Habakkuk, the prophet, appeared and revealed hidden و كان هذا القديس كلام صعد إىل الهيكل things to him and, as a result, he was followed by many. The saint rebuked them, سال الرب فنزلت نار، وملا مل يطيعوا أمره but since they did not hearken to him, he excommunicated فخاف الباقون، من السامء أحرقت كبريهم them and forbade them from the fellowship of the church. وملا أراد الرب،من ذلك ورجعوا عن بدعتهم When they disobeyed his order, he entreated God, so fire came أرسل إليه، إن يريحه من أتعاب هذا العامل down from heaven, and the fire burned their leader. On behalf of CHC Nagy Banoub visited Egypt in October 2023 and had the pleasure of meeting Pope Tawadros II and 30 representatives from the 16 Dioceses CHC supports. As you may know, the cost of living in Egypt has increased significantly in the past year due to various factors such as inflation, rising energy prices, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, this means that the people we serve are facing more hardships and difficulties than ever before. Many struggling to afford the necessities of life, such as food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. Some are experiencing homelessness, hunger, or illness. We need your help more than ever. We are asking you to please consider making a generous donation to our charity today or increasing your regular contribution to $70 per month if you are already a supporter. Don’t forget our Christmas Hamper appeal 2024. The new Building is expected to be ready February 2024. church services are continuing as normal as in the Timetable inside the Bulletin. You can donate monthly contribution using Direct Debit forms available in the church or downloaded from church website.
