• Florida Southern enters the weekend as one of the biggest movers in the latest NABC Coaches Poll. The Mocs jumped 10 spots from No. 22 to No. 12 when the poll was released on Tuesday. The Moccasins are also in the top 15 in the D2SIDA Poll, ranked No. 11. Florida Southern’s athletic communications office uses the NABC poll as its official ranking. • The Moccasins are coming off an 80-74 win at Southern New Hampshire last Saturday. Florida Southern scored 51 second-half points to overcome a 33-29 firsthalf deficit.
• The Mocs had five different players score in double figures in the game, four in the second half alone. Slinky Jones had an outstanding performance with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone. He finished with 13 points and 14 boards. • Jack Rauch (18), Brett Hanson (16), Jonathan Lawton (16), and Ben Marello (14) also scored in double figures. Hanson’s performance increased his career total to 991 points and put him just nine away from becoming the 42nd player in school history with 1,000 career points.
• The Moccasins and Warriors have met four times on the hardwood, with Florida Southern holding a 4-0 record against Merrimack. All four meetings have taken place at Jenkins Field House, but the teams have not met since Dec. 30, 1999 in a 64-58 victory for FSC. • Florida Southern head coach Mike Donnelly is approaching 250 career victories. He has won 240 games in 16 seasons as a head coach, 45 of which have come as the head coach of the Moccasins.
