Option/Subject Choices For Sixth Form PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY AS MISTAKES MAY DELAY YOUR APPLICATION The table on the next page shows last year’s option blocks. This is the starting point for the construction of the timetable for 2016-17. AS Students should choose one subject from each block A-D, plus two reserve subjects. We will try our utmost to ensure that all students gain their first choices of subjects, but this may not be possible in all of cases.
Further Maths is normally taken as an extra AS/A Level by students on the Maths course and is therefore not represented in the option blocks below. Entry for this subject is determined by the Maths Department and usually requires students to gain an A* at Maths GCSE and/or extremely high achievement in the first term of AS Maths. Extra lessons will be added to the student’s timetable. Level 3 Vocational students should choose a maximum of two Level 3 subjects (one Double award and one Single award) and a maximum of one AS subject from Block C.
If you wish to undertake a combination of subjects that will not fit, please contact Mr Delf. If sufficient numbers of students wish to take this combination we will attempt to accommodate it. The current Option Blocks represent the arrangement that is the best for the vast majority of students.
The combination of subjects that are chosen will be carefully discussed at interview.
Occasionally a course does not attract enough students for it to be viable to run. If this is the case, students will be informed as soon as possible and a reserve subject will be used. In addition, we occasionally have to move subjects between option blocks due to staffing. Students will be notified as above.

Please be aware that the BTEC Level 3 subjects will only run if student demand exists. Decisions on whether a course will run will be made after the application deadline on 11th March 2015.
