HIGHER EDUCATION WEEK In June/July each year, Elutec Academy host a complete week of talks, workshops and visits to help prepare our Sixth Form students for Higher Education. This year we switched the event online and saw colleagues from Universities about what student life is like, student finance and first weeks. For this year we have already confirmed presentations from universities such as University College London (UCL), the University of West London, University of Middlesex and London South Bank University. We hope it will be a physical event, but if not, we know our partners have strong talents in virtual format inspiration. During this week, the students will receive impartial advice on which university is best suited to them as well as information on Student Finance and UCAS. It is expected that the week will close with the opportunity to visit a university campus and see what student life could really be like.
APPRENTICESHIP WEEK
Throughout the year we host talks, presentations and workshops to enable our Sixth Form students to complete successful apprenticeship applications. We invite employers such as Network Rail, Ford and Dyson to speak with the students about the apprenticeships they offer. We also invite past alumni and current apprentices to talk about their experiences to offer advice and real life encounters. This year we moved the event online. We heard from the Royal Navy, Readie Construction and the Construction Youth Trust in several interactive and virtual conferences. We also include workshops based on CV and application writing and where possible a visit to a company site. Apprenticeship week in the summer term 2022 is planned to culminate in an Employers Breakfast where we will host representatives from all the companies we have worked with and our eligible students. We will provide a conducive environment with refreshments and time for networking in what we are sure will be an incredible experience for the students. Plans are underway to cover a virtual format so that students remain inspired and engaged with their career planning in the highest calibre of ways.
