Welcome to Wolsingham Sixth Form Wolsingham is a special place. Whether you are an existing student or thinking about joining us from another school, you will be part of a vibrant, stimulating and successful Sixth Form. Our commitment is to deliver outstanding provision for all. Our core philosophy is built upon an ethos where every student achieves to their highest level. We challenge you to reach your potential through an inspiring style of teaching and learning whilst supporting you with resolute pastoral care. We are very proud of our students’ accomplishments, from the group of students who spent time trekking in the High Atlas Mountains and working on local community projects to those who have achieved undergraduate places at renowned universities and undertaken apprenticeships.

As a student you can expect the very best independent advice and guidance to ensure you follow an appropriate progression pathway that matches your prior attainment and future career aspirations. To nurture life skills we place a balanced focus on enrichment opportunities, work placements and student mentoring. As a result we will ensure that when you leave us you are well equipped and confident to succeed whilst fondly remembering being a part of our inclusive community. Our new school build has ensured that the facilities within the Sixth Form are second to none. Engaging the Mind We know that high quality teaching is key to your success. We have high expectations and ask our students to be tenacious in their pursuit of academic success. Experienced teachers consistently inspire and challenge students to make rapid progress with clearly directed and timely support. Where appropriate we put in place strategic intervention which matches the needs of every individual leading to a striking impact. Consequently our students learn exceptionally well. Due to the positive climate in our classrooms, students are focussed and fully engaged with their learning. Students are empowered by probing questions which extends and

develops answers, encourages involvement and secures progress through wide discussion and debate. Typically students who choose Wolsingham Sixth Form consistently display a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. Students are well rewarded with the professionalism of their teachers who drive all students to focus on learning and high quality outcomes. In addition we place a strong emphasis on skill development and using independent study time for additional reading and research so our students can strive for the highest achievement within our caring, inclusive community.


Support Our Learning Mentor programme provides you with unique opportunities to take control of your learning. With the support of your tutor you will be involved in your own target setting, monitoring and feedback. Wolsingham Sixth Form offers an extensive range of programmes focusing on student wellbeing and careers. Specialist staff and a plethora of external partners will offer

you comprehensive advice ensuring that there are no barriers to your progression. Our priority is your future. Subject teachers are always willing to offer help and support with work. We know our students’ abilities and ambitions. We are honest and realistic in our evaluations, committed to supporting you to reap the maximum reward from these crucial two years of study.

Enrichment Building Leaders We recognise universities and employers look beyond academic success and seek well-educated, well rounded individuals with life experience. At Wolsingham we place a strong emphasis on your skill development, independent study and in-depth learning. You will be supported to take responsibility for your future through exploring varied opportunities. You will take part in a diverse programme of weekly enrichment activities allowing you to enhance your skills and learn beyond the classroom.

With support you will develop transferable skills such as teamwork, resilience, interdependence and leadership. These skills and qualities will strengthen UCAS and employment applications.

Admission Students are enrolled onto a personalised pathway to support progress to Higher Education, training or employment. Most students opt to study four subjects in Year 12. All course information is available on www.wolsinghamschool.net If you are interested in studying at Wolsingham Sixth Form please follow these easy steps: Step 1: If you are a student at Wolsingham information and guidance interviews will take place throughout years 10 and 11. Students applying from elsewhere should complete the online application form. Step 2: All potential students should complete an online application form by end of January. If you miss the deadline please contact the Sixth Form direct. Step 3: Interviews will start February 2016. The interview is a key

part of the application process and provides opportunities to discuss appropriate pathways and courses. Step 4: Offer of a place. Providing you meet the entry requirements you will be offered a conditional place at the end of the admissions interview. This will be confirmed in writing. Enrolment dates can be found on the website. If you are disappointed with your GCSE grades, talk to us; we can help you find a solution. We also operate a 16-19 bursary scheme.
