“As a parent I see on a daily basis how Loseley Fields nurtures the whole experience of a values based primary education. I’ve watched how the school develops confidence, enthusiasm, and above all, installing cast iron resilience to deal with success and setbacks. Loseley children are encouraged to develop their own sense of integrity, enabling them to identify right from wrong and have the skills to become life-long learners. Parent Governor

Welcome

to Loseley Fields Primary School Welcome to Loseley Fields and thank you for your interest in our school. We are a proud member of the Guildford Education Partnership (GEP) which we joined in 2016. The school is set within extensive grounds where children develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on experiences in the natural environment. Our children are at the heart of all we do and we believe that they learn best in safe and stimulating classrooms. We aim to provide a balanced education for your child where we strive for the highest standards whilst supporting and nurturing their creativity. Through quality personal and social education, we are committed to developing intrinsically motivated learners with high aspirations for their futures. We believe that the school should serve its community. I encourage families to get involved in all aspects of school life. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be part of something special. I look forward to welcoming you and your family into our school community where we promise to celebrate your child’s individuality and help them to achieve their very best. Amanda Pedder Headteacher

The Curriculum Motivating our learners for their futures Children are taught through a topic-based approach and each theme is launched with an enriched start. These may be special trips, activities, a guest speaker or story teller, which helps the children understand the topic better and inspires them to find out more. We will ensure that high standards in English and mathematics are at the heart of a creative curriculum that equips children with the knowledge and skills required for life beyond the classroom in an ever changing technological world. We value children’s creativity and individuality and listen attentively to their views, opinions and feelings.

EYFS It is widely recognised that a child’s experiences between birth and the age of five have a major impact on their life. This is why we ensure each child is offered a secure and happy environment where they feel special and safe. All our children are encouraged to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow within the Loseley Fields family, ensuring they develop the confidence and self-belief to become strong, decisive and unique individuals. Our Early Years children learn about themselves and the world around them through concrete first hand experiences which are based on carefully structured play activities. Children are encouraged to use language as a tool for thinking, exploring and expressing ideas. Activities are planned to promote curiosity and foster independence in our youngest learners. The provision is expertly tailored to meet the needs of individual children and often links to their specific interests. Each child will have a ‘Key Person’ to give them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and act as a point of contact for parents.

Outdoor Learning At Loseley Fields we nurture our children through a range of experiences beyond the classroom. Our developing outdoor area provides a focal point for this. Our Flourish Programme has supported many young people in cultivating a growth mindset through planting, nurturing and growing plants within the school grounds. Our staff carefully plan engaging educational visits to enable the curriculum to come to life and allow them to learn through first-hand experience. In the older years these involve residential visits to promote independence and prepare children for their transition to secondary school.

Inclusion Loseley Fields is an inclusive school where every teacher is a teacher of SEND. As a school, we ensure that all staff - teachers and teaching assistants - are well trained and resourced to meet the needs of each individual learner. We provide an environment where children with SEND can learn alongside their peers. Our SEND team work with families to ensure that the provision meets the needs of their child, enabling them to make progress in their learning.

Achievement For All We want all of our children to develop a passion for learning; a hunger for knowledge; an enquiring mind and an innovative approach to key areas of the curriculum that will stay with them always. We respect every child’s desire to reach their full learning potential in a safe and secure environment. It is vital that we continually review and assess pupils’ progress; always recognise and praise achievement; celebrate individuality; give encouragement and support when it gets tough and provide direction so that they achieve their very best. This is an exciting and ever-evolving journey. At every point we all have an opportunity to support and make a difference in our young people’s lives.
