Values & ATTITUDES
Our schools’ values guide our thinking and behaviours.
Every individual is recognised for who they are and what they contribute to our school and society, supporting their personal, social and spiritual development every day.
Our six values, are explored each half term to aid and deepen children’s understanding. Children’s attitudes, and wider learning behaviours, are nurtured through our exciting and inclusive curriculum.
ENJOYMENT
Happy children learn best.
Our well planned fun activities and motivating experiences ensure all children enjoy their learning, developing their confidence, self-belief, self-esteem and resilience.
From Nursery to Year 6, our curriculum is designed to engage all children in exciting activities, that are relevant to their lives as well as within the community. Children are also encouraged to participate in wider school activities including trips, clubs and community events.
KNOWLEDGE
Every child is treated as an individual.
Our pitched appropriate learning, challenges and supports children at every stage of their education. We provide our learners with a rich, broad and balanced programme of study that equips them with subject specific knowledge. Our carefully designed curriculum prepares them for life in the modern world, encouraging their curiosity and ambition to find out more and become successful learners.
SKILLS
Our schools promote the development of key skills, including communication, problem solving and decision making.
We encourage a positive “opting in” and “can do” attitude. Children’s horizons are broadened, new challenges come to be relished and perseverance and determination are reinforced. Skills such as emotional growth, self-esteem, confidence and independence are nurtured. Risk is experienced by children in a managed way, teaching them about the importance of risk awareness and risk management – not risk avoidance.
Pupils enjoy school and love learning. They are happy and safe and know the importance of meeting the high expectations... that the school expects of them.

OPPORTUNITIES
We believe the opportunities children are presented with in primary school, help to develop and nurture their sense of adventure, builds resilience and character and encourages them to take risks.
Our curriculum, therefore, is designed to expose children to a wide variety of experiences, such as: forest school, termly trips and visitors, residentials and various after school clubs.
The sporting competitions across schools, opportunities to take on a role of responsibility such as School Council, Librarians or Eco Representatives, help to build upon children’s interests and hobbies, preparing them to become responsible citizens. Many children enjoy private music tuition, taking part in performances celebrating their talents in a wide range of fields.
INCLUSION
All children are valued equally, regardless of their abilities and/or diverse needs.
We are committed to valuing and nurturing each child as an individual and working together with parents, agencies and professionals to enable them to achieve their endless potential.
The Orchard Centre is a specialist Learning and Additional Needs (LAN) provision with The Hermitage Schools and can host 16 children. Children gain places by going through the annual Surrey panel which decides the best placement for a child. The children access learning in both mainstream classes and The Orchard Centre, ensuring they are given the very best opportunity to thrive with their peers.
The pastoral teams within our passionate and committed staff, including Inclusion Leaders, Special Educational Need Coordinators (SENCos), Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs), Home School Links Workers (HSLW) and Leaders for Young Carers, work closely to identify and meet the needs of our children and families, providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities for all.
The schools’ curriculum is ambitious and engaging, catering to all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
