WELCOM E TO KEV I SI XT H FOR M Welcome to King Edward VI School, Lichfield. The Sixth Form is well established with a total of 330+ students following a wide range of courses. Most students have been in the school since Year 7. We welcome applications from students from other schools and we are joined each year by many students from all par ts of Staffordshire and the West Midlands. Our students achieve excellent results. From their academic success students progress onto various courses at university as well as higher level apprenticeships and employment. All our Sixth Form teachers are subject specialists and have developed a great deal of exper tise in their area. Consequently we receive highly positive feedback every year about the level of suppor t that our students can access from their teachers. At King Edward VI we place great emphasis on helping you to achieve the very best grades you are capable of. However, for us academic achievement is only one par t of a broader picture. By choosing King Edward VI Sixth Form you will be opting to study in an environment where staff care about your personal development and your academic progress. We are proud to be a Sixth Form which has a strong sense of community; a place everyone is valued, suppor ted and encouraged to contribute to their community. We have worked hard to make our school a place of oppor tunity as well as learning. We look forward to welcoming you to King Edward VI Sixth Form where you will embark on the next stage of your education. David Butler Head of Sixth Form & Assistant Headteacher

A BOU T T H E SIXTH FOR M As a Sixth Form we are committed to suppor ting you to realise your academic potential, whilst developing the personal and social skills which will equip you for life beyond education. The Sixth Form is an oppor tunity for students to fur ther their knowledge and understanding in subjects already taken, or to broaden their interests and pursue courses in new areas. The majority of students study 3 subjects across the two years of Sixth Form. It is also possible to study a four th subject where appropriate. We have a range of courses spanning Mathematics, the Sciences, Languages, Humanities and the Ar ts which offer students the oppor tunity to tailor their ‘A’ Level and Level 3 studies to their own interests and career ambition. The Sixth Form Centre provides an excellent oppor tunity for Sixth Form study and personal development, containing Sixth Form teaching rooms, a computer suite, Sixth Form offices, toilets and the Common Room. There are other areas in school, including a designated area of the Library Resource Centre where Sixth Formers have their own space to study. The nature of Sixth Form study is very different from that which you will have experienced at GCSE. A wide variety of employers and universities are seeking young people with the sor t of maturity and responsibility that non-compulsory education fosters. The Sixth Form Programme aims to develop students’ skills in various ways. We expect our students to demonstrate and develop commitment to their chosen courses; a desire to learn; self-discipline to meet the needs of higher levels of work; determination to fulfil their potential; time management and organisation skills to meet work deadlines; leadership and teamwork skills. Please visit the school website for information on Sixth Form Admissions.
