WELCOME FROM THE HEADTEACHER
It’s a great pleasure to offer you a warm welcome to The Mandeville School.
We are a school of just the right size. Large enough to be able to offer a wide range of different opportunities and facilities; yet small enough to know each of our students well. Located on a large, green, and well-maintained site we serve young people and their families in the West of Aylesbury and from nearby villages in the Aylesbury Vale. I am delighted and proud to serve our school community, and look forward to getting to know you soon.
VISION AND VALUES
OUR VISION
Our vision is to be a kind community where everyone perseveres, achieves and flourishes; where we enable all to experience life to the full.
This means that we think that building confidence, commitment and courage in our students is important, so that they persevere in the face of challenges, push themselves beyond their perceived capabilities, and are curious about the world around them.
We value academic success, but we seek something more than simply a strong set of exam results for our young people. We are devoted to creating the conditions for students to truly flourish in their journey from Year 7 through to Year 13: to succeed and grow through a wide variety of experiences and opportunities.
This also means that we believe the education we provide should lead to physical and intellectual growth united with spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We seek to broaden students’ horizons, build their character, and develop in them a thirst for learning that lasts a lifetime.
OUR VALUES
At all times life in our school is underpinned by our school values of Perseverance, Kindness, Integrity and Community.
Perseverance
We keep going when times are tough, we support each other and are hopeful about the future.
Kindness
We show care, understanding, tolerance, friendliness and courtesy towards other people.
Integrity
We take responsibility for our actions, think for ourselves, are honest, and take pride in all that we do.
Community
We value everyone, respect each other, act for each other, and care for our environment.
Our school continues to improve rapidly, with significant growth in our GCSEs and A Level Results in 2022. Our families see us as the best choice for our children; as a result we are full, or very close to it, in Years 7 to 11. Because our school is developing, we are able to attract highly talented teachers and support staff to the school, bring a wealth of experience and energy to care for your children.
We are a proud member of the Insignis Academy Trust; this means our students and staff members benefit from working in partnership with Princes Risborough School, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, and the new Kingsbrook School. The Trust supports us to provide fantastic facilities for our students, share skills and expertise across all of the schools, and ultimately give your children the best possible schooling experience.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
CURRICULUM
The Curriculum at The Mandeville School is designed to encompass a broad range of meaningful knowledge and skills which students will take with them into higher education, their careers and beyond.
We study a wide range of subjects at Key Stages Three and Four and Five which build on top of a solid foundation of English, Maths and Science as our core subjects.
Our Curriculum is inclusive. We set high expectations for all our learners, engendering perseverance and self-belief. We believe that learning doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom. We provide the opportunity for students to take their love of learning beyond the classroom, be that in extra-curricular activities or in their future pathways.

The Mandeville School is a community made up of passionate teachers, support staff and leaders who know how to create the very best environment to help our students flourish.
We believe that for our students to gain the very best education our lessons must be challenging, dynamic and academically rigorous. Our staff are always looking for new ways to inspire and engage our students. They are proud of the extra mile they will always go to make sure everyone in our school community takes on the challenges of learning, whichever obstacles they may come across.
For The Mandeville Community, the learning which comes with fantastic GCSE and A Level grades is only one part of a rich experience which we offer.

THE CHARTER
The Mandeville Charter is a set of six entitlements available to all Mandeville students.
We believe that to live out the promise of the school’s Vision, we must offer students more than a strong academic offering, and ensure that all students avail themselves of opportunities to develop.
The entitlements are:
• Academic Development
• Aspiration
• Character
• Identity & Culture
• Relationships
• Community Contribution
We offer a broad curriculum of activities, clubs and experiences for every year group, based around these six entitlements, with the aim to develop highly successful, accomplished and happy young people who can be their best and make valuable contributions to society. Whether it’s trips abroad, healthy relationships workshops or chances to raise money for local charities, the Charter activities challenge, enrich and engage all of our young people.
A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT
PASTORAL SUPPORT
Our students benefit from a strong and caring pastoral support team.
Our tutors and Year Leaders provide daily support for each young person to flourish, always aiming to notice the small details before problems can develop. Our team of Raising Achievement Officers help students with issues such as contacting home, lost uniform and equipment, rewards and attendance issues. We also have a Mental Health Lead, qualified Counsellor, Safeguarding and Family Worker, and a school Wellbeing Officer, when your child needs a helping hand or friendly face. Our Specific Educational Needs team supports young people with a diagnosed need to manage their daily life and learning in school. They provide advice, guidance and support to teaching staff, and help young people with needs to develop independence and resilience so they can achieve their best in school and beyond.
The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.’
SYNDEY J HARRIS
‘Pupils with SEND are receiving appropriate guidance that helps them with their learning.’
TRANSITION
Mandeville staff work closely with local feeder Primary schools to ensure your child has a smooth transition into Year 7.
We work hard to learn about each new Mandeville student, and prepare them (and their families) for an excellent start. We run Transition Days and Parent Evenings, open parent forums and small-group tours for families and vulnerable students. We also offer bridging activities such as a Summer School and Induction Day to ensure students feel confident and welcomed. Our expert staff pay close attention to new students as they form friendships and adjust to secondary schooling, and are always happy to speak with parents or carers as required.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
The school offers a range of activities outside of the standard school day.
Our fantastic football teams dominate local leagues. We offer lunchtime and after school clubs in such areas as Creative Writing, Maths, Art, Psychology, Taiko Drumming, and of course, numerous sporting clubs. We also encourage students to take part in the Student Voice and its subsidiary committees, such as the Anti-Bullying Committee. We engage with local charities, faith groups and attractions to ensure our students develop a love for learning, follow and develop their passions.
‘Everyone recognises that the expectations of what pupils can and will achieve have risen.’
‘Pupils talk about their achievements with pride. The discussions I had during the inspection highlighted how much pupils are encouraged to value the diversity in the school.’ OFSTED
FUTURE DESTINATIONS
Students at The Mandeville School go on to a wide range of future career paths.
100% of Mandeville Sixth Form students who applied to university this year secured placesstudying courses from Mathematics to Criminal Forensics to Zoology. A proportion of our students also go on to do apprenticeships or directly into employment. Students are supported throughout their education with trips to universities, talks from local employers and careers fairs to gain a wide insight into their post-16 and post-18 choices. Our alumni now work as international events managers, physiotherapists, teachers, barristers and in countless other job roles.
We aim for students to leave The Mandeville School with the knowledge, skills and character to experience life to the full – whatever that may look like for them.
‘A good education is a foundation for a better future.’ ELIZABETH WARREN
