Our school is an education and community hub which nurtures and grows children who are passionate about learning and embrace challenge. Our school values underpin everything we do using trust; honesty; resilience; respect and kindness to ensure the success of the whole child no matter of their starting points. Here at Meadhurst we proudly serve our community – educating pupils right from Nursery to when they leave us at Year 6.

• To have ambitious subject knowledge and a language rich curriculum
• To have a values-driven, safe, engaging environment.
• To actively support children to be resilient, take risks and participate in purposeful learning.
Thrive – How do we enable children to bring out the best in themselves?
• Children receive quality first teaching that reflects Rosenshine’s principles of instruction.
• All staff have high expectations of “Learning without Limits” supported by quality inclusive materials.
• There is purposeful communication between all stakeholders.
• Children can articulate what they are proud and passionate about developing confidence and independence to enable them to become lifelong learners.
• Children encompass our school values as they grow as contributing members of their communities.
• Children learn more, remember more and do more.
At Meadhurst Primary School, we bring out the best in every pupil through an inclusive, enriching curriculum built on a strong foundation of fundamental skills. Our pupils become confident, life-long learners who are ready for the future.
Our schemes of learning are designed to develop a language rich curriculum and diverse experience, aiming to prepare our children for lifelong learning. Children will engage in the learning through stimulating and exciting opportunities which promote curiosity, enrich experience and sustain learning. Underpinning each theme or unit of work is a core body of knowledge and skills that is systematically taught, revised, and revisited to ensure that learning is committed to the long-term memory. Our flexible approach ensures all children to learn to thrive, overcome challenges, and achieve personally and academically.
• Provide a broad and balanced education for all pupils that’s coherently planned and sequenced towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge for skills and future learning and employment.
• Enable pupils to develop knowledge, understand concepts and acquire skills, and be able to choose and apply these in relevant situations.
• Support pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
• Promote a positive attitude towards learning.
• Ensure equal access to learning for all pupils, with high expectations for every pupil and appropriate levels of challenge and support.
• Have a high academic ambition for all pupils.
• Teach the values of respect, resilience, honesty, kindness and trust to ensure each child thrives in society.
Mastery in Mathematics gives our pupils the skills to be successful throughout life. Our mathematics curriculum provides a carefully planned progression in skills and knowledge. We follow ‘Maths No Problem’ – a Singapore Maths approach which supports the deepening of our pupils’ understanding. Our pupils have access to a wide range of tangible resources to support their success in Maths.
The skills developed in English underpins all areas of the curriculum. Our pupils learn to speak and write fluently, using ‘Talk for Writing’ and ‘No Nonsense Literacy’. Both of which provide outstanding models for our pupils to strive towards. High quality texts are used to broaden and enhance our pupil’s reading and writing experiences. From age 3 our pupils experience phonics through ‘Little Wandle’. This carefully planned programme ensures our pupils success at reading.
The school has incredible facilities that offers a wide range of opportunities for the pupils. Parent
Our school caters for pupils from Nursery (age 3) to year 6 (age 11). Our pupils have access to a wide range of different learning spaces; large spacious classrooms, a fully equipped IT suite, a library, a field and a large playground. We have 2 hall spaces where pupils eat, have assemblies and PE.
We have an alternative provision, The SHIP (Supportive, Holistic, Inclusive Provision), on site to support pupils who may be finding their classroom environment overwhelming. Specific programmes are implemented to ensure the success of these pupils as they return to their classrooms.
We also have our Coral Reef – a specialise High COIN centre for children with Autism. Pupils who are allocated a space here from Surrey County Council spend the morning learning in a quieter, more personalised environment before being supported to reintegrate into their mainstream classroom during the afternoon session.
Before Rock Steady I wasn’t very confident but now I feel good about myself. I can get up on stage and I can speak up when I want to. Pupil School trips, including residential visits, provide opportunities to enhance pupils’ experiences and understanding. Parent
We aspire to be a place where everyone is able to achieve and enjoy learning and their successes are celebrated.
A wide range of enrichment experiences are offered to all pupils. These trips and visits are linked to the curriculum and provide first hand experiences for the pupils.
In addition, pupils are encouraged to participate in residential journeys, we believe these are a great way to develop independence and spend time with peers in a different setting.
We pride ourselves in the number and variety of clubs we offer for the pupils. We aim to provide clubs that support pupil’s interests.
At Meadhurst Primary we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
All adults who work with pupils are DBS checked. We follow Surrey Local Authority’s safeguarding procedures and where necessary work in partnership with other agencies that support pupils and families, to ensure we address the needs of our pupils with sensitivity, care and confidentiality.
The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) is a Multi-Academy Trust, comprising four secondary, six primary schools and three special schools, with plans in progress for a further special school.
We have a long-standing tradition of highly effective partnership working developed from the first federation of Surrey Schools, originally formed in 2007 at the request of the DfE and Surrey Local Authority.
