WELCOME WELCOME TO BRAMPTON MANOR ACADEMY SIXTH FORM. This is an academic Sixth Form, offering high quality A Level teaching. We have exceptionally high standards and have an established tradition of academic achievement. Students make exceptional progress at Brampton and we deliver outstanding A Level results. In 2018 our fifth cohort of A Level students achieved our highest number of A*- A grades to date. Three quarters of our students progressed to Russell Group universities – the highest of any provider in Newham and one of the highest Russell Group progression rates in the country. Twenty students progressed to Oxford or Cambridge.

The 2018 Department for Education performance tables (summarised below) confirm that our stunning A Level results rank us as the highest achieving school in the region. Our university progression rate is the highest in the country. We are in the top 10 schools

Our well established university preparation programme leaves nothing to chance, offering superb guidance through the UCAS process. The UCAS process is delivered by expert tutors, University Access Officers and senior staff. This has resulted in us achieving the best progression rate to the prestigious Russell Group of universities in the region and one of the best in the UK for four years running. In order to help you choose the right university we

offer you dozens of opportunities to attend residential summer schools, lectures and enhancement programmes run by leading universities. Over the past year our students have successfully applied for and participated in schemes at a range of prestigious institutions including: Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Imperial, Nottingham, York, Warwick, Oxford and Cambridge. As a Sixth Form that believes there is no limit to what you can achieve, we encourage our highest achievers to apply to Oxford or Cambridge. Our extensive Oxbridge preparation programme begins in Year 12 and includes residential trips to both universities, specialist support with admissions tests and interview workshops. All Oxbridge preparation is led by a dedicated team of Oxbridge graduates. In 2018 we were delighted that twenty of our students progressed to study at Oxford or Cambridge.

We also have a number of subject specific pathways on offer to students. For example, our medical applicants have the opportunity to complete a bespoke work experience and university preparation programme alongside a Senior Consultant at Newham General Hospital, whilst our lawyers have completed placements at the world’s leading law firms, including Clifford Chance and Allen & Overy. In fact, whatever you aspire to do in the future, from engineering to journalism, we make it our business to help you succeed. All students are guaranteed a one week work experience placement, as well as access to hundreds of outstanding placements taking place in school holidays.

ENRICHMENT & EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAMME WE WANT YOU TO ENJOY YOUR TIME IN OUR SIXTH FORM AND LEAVE US WITH THE EXPERIENCES, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES REQUIRED TO SUCCEED IN UNIVERSITY AND WORKING LIFE. Every Wednesday afternoon you will participate in a timetabled enrichment session of your choice. The range of activities is vast - current options include yoga, conversational French, conversational Spanish, football, badminton, drama, cycling, fitness, dance, swimming, mindfulness, chess, rugby, debating street dance and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. These activities are offered to you free of charge as part of the entitlements which come with being a Brampton student. In addition, there are a range of after school clubs running every day. Some of our most popular include ‘Cooking on a Budget’, the school musical, drama club and debating. And if you can’t find a club which takes your interest we’ll give you all the support you

need to set up your own, enabling you to develop your leadership skills in the process. Many of our students take their hobbies to the next level by representing the school in external competitions. We are regional debating champions, having made the national final of the prestigious Oxford, Cambridge and English Speaking Union competitions for five consecutive years. Our teams compete around the country and are consistently ranked as the best state school debaters in the UK. Our sports teams compete with great success whilst our aspiring lawyers enjoy competing in the Bar Mock Trial Competition, where they have the opportunity to present a case in a courtroom in front of a real judge.

No two students are the same, which is why we take the time to get to know you so that we can best support you in achieving your personal goals. Our comprehensive programme of support includes daily interaction with a form tutor and regular one-toone meetings with a member of our teaching staff who acts as your personal mentor throughout your time in the Sixth Form. We also have a highly experienced and dedicated team of pastoral staff on hand to look out for your welfare and monitor your progress. Half termly

tracking in all subjects enables us to intervene quickly if a student is struggling. We work with teachers and parents to provide the support students need to enable them to achieve their goals. Ultimately, when a student chooses to enrol in our Sixth Form we know they are trusting us with their future. This is a responsibility we take very seriously and is what drives us to continue to provide the guidance, motivation and care to enable the next generation of Brampton students to go onto achieve their dreams.
