Welcome Challenge, Support, Achieve The Sixth Form at Rastrick is built on the ideals of aspirational goals and the development and embedding of a competitive spirit. Our aim is to provide you with the qualifications, skills and experiences to ensure you can be successful in moving onto the next phase of your learning or career path. Our excellent A Level and Vocational results demonstrate that we can, and will, deliver you consistently excellent teaching. However, we appreciate that universities and employers expect more than just excellent results; therefore we will give you the opportunity to experience life in university, work with our professional partners in commerce and industry and experience cultures from all over the world, enabling you to have a wide range of experiences that give you the edge when you move on from Sixth Form. This combination of exciting experiences and excellent teaching will be aligned with outstanding support; we pride ourselves on the bespoke support we can offer you, ensuring there are no barriers in your ability to reach your potential. Next Steps

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at A*- C in at least 4 curriculum areas. These must include a Grade C in both GCSE English Language and Maths.

3 A Level courses + Supported study + Work experience + Extended Project + Enrichment

Degree courses

An average of Grade A at GCSE. These must include either English Language or Maths at grade C or above.

4 A Level Courses + Supported study + Work experience + Enrichment

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at A*- C or equivalent (merit or above in one GCSE equivalent course can contribute) in at least 4 curriculum areas. These should include a Grade C in both GCSE English Language and Maths.

3 courses which may be AS and/or Subsidiary Diploma/ Diploma + Supported study + Work experience + Enrichment

Apprenticeships Employment

Students on route C will be advised on the best combination of A Level and/or Vocational qualifications. Some GCSE subjects will require a Grade B or above.

Opportunities We understand that universities and employers look beyond academic success and we will give you opportunities to develop skills outside of the classroom setting. You are encouraged to volunteer in numerous activities which aim to prepare you to be professional by equipping you with an advanced set of soft skills which are highly sought after in the world of work.

Support Individual Support Our dedicated and experienced support team offer friendly advice and professional guidance for your personal progression. They will support your journey and assist you with the smooth transition from GCSE to A Level and to your destination beyond, maximising your opportunities to move onto higher education or your chosen career path.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) In partnership with the University of Leeds, we offer the EPQ to Year 12 students. The EPQ allows you to embark on a self-directed and self-motivated project and gaining this qualification can help with a successful university application.

Enhancement Programme for More Able Students In partnership with local colleges and Cambridge University, selected students are given the opportunity to attend a series of lectures, visits and open days in preparation for successful applications to universities of their choice.

Financial Support Young people aged 16-19 years old, who need support to help them stay in education, can apply for the 16-19 Bursary Fund.

University Visits We believe choosing your next step into Higher Education is a big decision; therefore you are given the opportunity to explore a variety of different universities with a focus on subject specific workshops as well as opportunities to experience university living.

Admissions If you are interested in studying at Rastrick Sixth Form, please follow these easy steps:

1. Complete the online application form This will be live on our website on Friday 6 November 2015. Your Careers/Connexions advisor or Form Tutor will help you to complete this application successfully. Your application must be received by Friday 29 January 2016.

2. Admissions Interview All applicants who meet the application deadline are guaranteed an admissions interview which will be held at Rastrick Sixth Form. Interviews will be held in February 2016. The interview is a key part of the application process as it is an opportunity for us to discuss what you would like to study, so that we can make sure that you have chosen the courses that are right for you.

3. Offer of a Place Providing you meet our entry criteria, you will be offered a conditional place at the end of the admissions interview. This will be confirmed in writing.

4. Enrolment Student enrolment will take place on the following dates Friday 26 August, Tuesday 30 August, Wednesday 31 August and Thursday 1st September 2016. If you are disappointed with your GCSE grades, please come and talk to us to discuss your options. Staff will be available on GCSE results day, which is 25 August 2016.
