Physical and Emotional Wellbeing

We recognise the importance of physical and emotional wellbeing in a well-rounded education. Our diverse sports clubs, including Athletics Club, Football Club, Rounders, and Cricket,

emphasise teamwork, sportsmanship, and the value of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our Dance Club and Singing Club offer students a creative outlet for self-expression and emotional growth, fostering a sense of accomplishment and selfconfidence. Our students regularly attend external theatre productions to address crucial personal development themes.

Cultural Capital

We place significant emphasis on fostering cultural capital by immersing our students in a variety of experiences. To achieve this, we organise a range of external visits and extracurricular clubs. For instance, many of our students have the opportunity to visit Paris, where they can explore French culture and art. Others embark on Italy, staying in Sorrento to experience culturally important sites like Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii, while some explore the unique landscapes of Lanzarote. We also arrange visits to museums and collaborations with local universities. Furthermore, our dynamic History Club engages students with diverse historical perspectives, stimulating discussions, and hands-on projects that help them appreciate the richness of cultural diversity. We are dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that empowers our students to not only navigate but also contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

By ensuring that our students have staff they trust and respect, we understand the benefits this can bring to the wellbeing of our students.

Success for All

We champion inclusivity by offering tailored support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our ambitious, inclusive curriculum is designed to meet the unique needs of our SEND students, enabling them to achieve exceptional cognitive and socialemotional outcomes. Our evidence-based teaching strategies and carefully selected interventions are driven by a steadfast commitment to ensuring that all students reach their full potential.

In order to address each student’s individual needs, we have a variety of support options available, including a differentiated curriculum, small group work, evidence-informed literacy and numeracy intervention programs and additional pastoral support during break and lunch times. We understand the importance of smooth transitions for SEND students, and our inclusion department coordinates the collection of transition data from primary schools, liaises with primary school SENCOs, and engages with parents to identify Year 6 pupils who may need support upon transition. Parents are then involved in the process throughout their child’s time at The Turing School. This proactive approach ensures that appropriate provision is identified and resourced for every student, regardless of their needs.

Our students benefit from a range of engaging activities, such as work experience placements, CV writing workshops, and our annual Big Future Show event, which showcases a variety of industries and career pathways. We work closely with Further Education providers, Apprenticeship providers, and local universities, offering insight into the diverse opportunities available to students as they progress in their education. To further enhance our students’ career readiness, we host a Post 16 evening, where students and their families can explore potential pathways in further education and employment. Our annual Mock Interview Day allows students to practice their interview skills and receive valuable feedback from industry professionals. Additionally, students receive support from our dedicated careers experts, ensuring personalised guidance tailored to each individual’s aspirations.
