It is an inclusive school with committed staff that work hard to meet your child’s individual learning needs. We care for the whole child at West Grove, looking at their social, emotional and physical needs as well as ensuring that all children have access to a wide and varied range of learning opportunities. We are proud of our successful school where children achieve good results, developing into responsible citizens with good attitudes and habits for life long learning. We aim to work in partnership with you in order to ensure that the time your child spends with us will be happy and successful. Choosing a school is an important decision. ‘Funding is spent well in providing a wide range of support programmes to strengthen key skills in reading, writing and mathematics’

It is important that children are on time for school. Lateness means that they will miss valuable learning time.

when we can meet to discuss your child’s progress. We take all concerns raised by parents and carers seriously and school staff are always on hand to deal with any queries or concerns. Staff are available to offer guidance or support if necessary.
‘My son is doing great. The teachers are amazing and make us as parents feel comfortable and reassured that our children are safe’ PARENT
The West Grove Way We have very high expectations of all our pupils and we expect them to embrace our school values in their interactions with one another. Pupil’s behaviour in the school is exemplary as children demonstrate
the West Grove way. Staff work hard to promote values and to look for and praise good behaviour in pupils. We use a range of reward systems to motivate children to behave well and treat each other with kindness.
Friends of West Grove Friends of West Grove are parents and carers who meet to organise a variety of social and fund raising events. Money raised goes towards resources for the school to support children’s
learning. All West Grove parents and carers are welcome and are automatically part of Friends of West Grove.
‘Pupils take a strong sense of pride in their school and they can articulate the vision of honesty, respect, open-mindedness, resilience and positivity that permeates throughout the school’

Governing Body The Governing Body take a keen interest in everything that concerns the school and the children. Governors are drawn from a variety of backgrounds to bring their
expertise and different perspectives. They meet regularly and are committed to ensuring that the school builds on its successes and offers all our children an excellent education.
Safeguarding West Grove’s ethos is to ensure all children feel safe and secure, their view points are valued and they are encouraged to talk and are listened to. It is important that their wishes
and feelings are taken into account if they disclose to a member of staff. We have four Designated Safeguarding Officers who are responsible for child protection.
Healthy Eating and Lunchtime We encourage healthy lifestyles and healthy eating. Good food is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, so younger children are offered fruit and milk throughout the day and all pupils are encouraged to drink water. We prefer our children to eat school meals and we work with our catering provider to ensure that school meals are appealing to the children and are
nutritious. Meat, fish and vegetarian alternatives are always available alongside a salad selection, fresh fruit and bread. If children choose to bring a packed lunch we expect parents and carers to provide a balanced and healthy meal. We do not allow fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate in packed lunches. We are a nut free school!
Early Birds Club Early Birds offers breakfast and after school club childcare facilities for children from reception to year 6 who attend our school. Early Birds offers parents the opportunity to leave their children at school in a safe environment outside the normal school hours. Breakfast Club runs
from 7.30am each day and after school club runs until 6pm. Light meals are provided at both sessions. They also offer a holiday club during some school holidays. Places should be booked and paid for in advance. Please contact Early Birds for more information: earlybirds1@live.co.uk
