There were 10 new additions to the FSP Retailer Database in November, with 2 new retailers proposing to enter the UK market: pizza and craft beer concept, Base + Barley, will open its debut site in Exeter; and, Mountain Warhouse's new athletic brand for women, Zakti, has made its debut on the high street.
Retail Burn This month, as usual, the big national chains attract the most press. The most talked about retailers, according to the Retail Burn, include: Lidl, M&S, Selfridges, B&M, ASDA, Clintons, Matalan, BHS, Jaeger and Harris + Hoole. The retailer with the highest number of positive news articles in November was Lidl, having increased its market share to a record high and promising to invest more than £1.5 billion in the UK over the next three years. At the other end of the scale is Harris + Hoole, which has reported widening losses and the need for further funding to stay afloat.
