• FSU offers unique 3+2 engineering degree program in partnership with North Carolina State University
• The School of Business and Economics awarded a $643,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration to establish an EDA Center
• In 2012 FSU is the only UNC campus that houses both a traditional and an International Early College High School
• FSU signed new agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard to support faculty research that simulates coastal immigration interdiction • FSU launched new academic programs: Bachelor of Social Work, a Minor in Africana Studies, Bachelors in Professional Studies to serve adult learners and military veterans, and online graduate certificates in professional writing, teaching writing, and military behavioral health
• FSU co-hosts a “state of the art” electron microprobe in partnership with UNC Pembroke. • In fall 2012 FSU opened a new 338bed state-of-the-art residence hall – “Renaissance Hall”. • FSU students conduct summer research at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Oakridge National Laboratory.
• FSU expanded alliances with the military and the community by locating the Veterans Business Outreach Center and the Public Computing Center in Bronco Square. • FSU filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its “High Efficiency Thermoelectric Device” which can charge a battery using body heat. • The School of Business and Economics is ranked as one of the top 100 Schools of Business in the United States by the Social Science Research Network. • FSU has enhanced study abroad with university partnerships in Nigeria, China, France, Tanzania, South Africa, Grenada, Poland, Spain, and Morocco.
