The College of Music has identified ‘community’ as one of our core values. We seek out and thrive on collaborations, partnerships, and relationships from our community partners, patrons, and audience members. As a musical center for North Florida, engagement with our partners is a vital component of the College’s strategic vision for the future. Long-term partnerships with community arts organizations benefit not only our students, but the enrich our greater community as a whole. Javacya’s mission, to support professional classical Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in classical music through education and performance strengthens our community and adds to the rich tapestry of the arts in our region.
Through decades of dedicated effort, Patrice Floyd and her partners in the Javacya Arts Conservatory have built a community-based music program that represents the diversity of the Tallahassee community and has enriched the lives of so many. As an alumna of FSU, we are so proud of Patrice’s groundbreaking and indefatigable work in the community. We greatly value our relationship with Javacya Arts Conservatory and hope that you will join us tonight in celebrating their wonderful music.
Sincerely,

Developing the Whole Person
Welcome to tonight’s concert. We are so happy that you have come. As founder of Javacya Arts Conservatory, I want to first thank the parents for their child’s participation. As a parent myself, I am aware of the pieces of the puzzle which must be put in place to simply arrive on time to perform at a concert. Congratulations, you made it! The students have worked hard. Parents, grandparents, and guardians have sacrificed to assure their family members can participate. Javacya Arts Conservatory is one of the most respected music education institutions in the region. We are proud to celebrate 43 years. A collaboration with the College of Music at Florida State University has made this concert possible. To better engage the entire Tallahassee and surrounding communities, the College of Music and Javacya, alongside other established art-loving institutions, is establishing a partnership to engage the music education needs of under resourced children and families at a high level. Tonight, through Javacya’s Teachers on the Go Program, partnerships with the Florida A & M University Developmental Research School has birthed the FAMU STREAM Robotics Youth Orchestra, FAMU Youth Symphony Orchestra, Southside Orchestra and Cultural Arts Program, FAMU Dance Company, and for several years, the Summer Sizzler Youth Theater program which was in residence at FAMU DRS. We would also like to thank Mary Bush-Smith, Darryl Tookes, and Dr. Erikka Edwards for bringing the Cairo High School Chorus and being our guest conductor.
Thank you to Mr. Michael Johnson, Superintendent of Schools, FAMU DRS, Dr. Patricia West, Assistant Superintendent, Yolanda Foxx-Palmer, Director of the STREAM Robotics program and the faculty and staff of Javacya Arts Conservatory, tonight is a reality. Your vision has ignited hope for the quality of fine arts education in the Southside community.
Again, welcome and enjoy the concert.
Respectfully,
Patrice FloydIt is our distinct pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you as we celebrate Music Fest - Javacya at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall featuring our music and dance students. As the superintendents of FAMU DRS, we are thrilled to see our students showcase their skills through this festival.
Our school is renowned for providing an excellent learning environment that allows students to flourish in their areas of interest. Music Fest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our music and dance students, who have put in countless hours of practice to prepare for this event.
We would like to thank the staff of Javacya Arts Conservatory for their assistance in helping our students develop their artistic abilities. We invite you to enjoy this memorable event that we hope will leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
Once again, welcome, and thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mr. Michael Johnson Superintendent, FAMU DRS![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/230517141609-b284d41a48567537800df5f09f0c72d5/v1/ab9f20d4a5b7a949d72f783c16868d7d.jpeg)
