Pamela Ryan, Professor of Viola at Florida State University, has performed many concertos with orchestras, most recently the Vaughan Williams Suite for Viola and Chamber Orchestra at FSU with conductor Alexander Jiménez in 2023, and the Bartók Viola Concerto with conductor Darius Mikulski and Shulman’s Theme and Variations with conductor Gudni Emilsson of the Thailand Philharmonic.

Ryan has been a chamber music collaborator/faculty artist for summer festivals including Aspen, Brevard, Yellow Barn, Schlern/Italy, Green Mountain, Idyllwild and Bowdoin, and recorded critically praised chamber music for Naxos and the Canadian Broadcasting Company labels. Ryan was the violist of the Bowling Green String Quartet, working with composer George Crumb, and touring Carnegie Hall and Mexico City. As a guest chamber musician, Ryan has returned to Seventh Species (Oregon) and the Amelia Island Festival. Ryan served as principal violist of the Southwest Florida Symphony/ Sanibel Chamber Orchestra and the Tallahassee Symphony (28 years). As researcher of Balinese rebab masters, she performed rebab with gamelans in Bali and San Francisco. Ryan has performed regularly as a jazz violist with JazzEtcetera of Tallahassee since 2010.

Ryan has won the Aspen Young Artist Viola Concerto Competition, the FSU University Teaching Award and several research grants, and has been praised by the American Record Guide for “superb technique and musicianship.” She gave the collegiate viola master class at the American String Teachers national conference, and presented for ASTA at several national conferences. She has been a soloist, presenter, featured journal author, adjudicator and national board member for the American Viola Society and has given a jazz workshop for the International Viola Society/AVS conference (Columbus 2022), and a lecture recital at the IVS/Thailand Viola Society conference (Salaya 2023). A dedicated teacher and adjudicator, she is proud of her former students holding leadership positions in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and schools on 5 continents worldwide.

Lauded as “a huge talent [with] hidden power and amazing maturity” (Bart van Oort), Taiwanese-American harpist Noël Wan (1994) made her international debut with the Utrecht Symphony Orchestra in 2010. She has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia and has been featured as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, the Muziekgebouw, American Harp Society Summer Institute, World Harp Congress, and Yellow Barn Summer Music Festival. Among her international distinctions are Gold Medal and the Mario Falcao Prize in the 12th USA International Harp Competition; First Prize and the Forgotten Lore Prize in the 2010 Dutch Harp Festival Competition; Grand Prize in the 2014 Carmel Music Society Competition; and Second Prize in the 2013 Nippon International Harp Competition, 2015 Korea International Harp Competition, and 2021 Prix Orford Musique. Additionally, her artistic and scholarly work has been supported by the Illinois Distinguished Fellowship, Chimei Arts Foundation, Presser Foundation, and Ontario Arts Council.

Wan is an alumna of the University of Illinois (B.M., D.M.A.) and the Yale School of Music (M.M.), and her primary teachers include Ann Yeung, June Han, Chimei Hung, Erika Waardenburg, Dan Yu, Doug Rioth, and Linda Wood Rollo. As an educator and scholar, she has contributed to Harp Column, The Collective, and The American Harp Journal, where she has written on philosophy, music education, and feminism. Wan has taught at the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, and Western University.

Eric Ohlsson enjoys a significant musical career that is varied and far reaching in scope. He is dedicated to both performing and teaching on a national and international scale. His primary position is as the Charles O. DeLaney Professor of Oboe in the College of Music at Florida State University, a post he has held since 1986.

Ohlsson performs regularly as principal oboist of the Tallahassee Symphony, the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, and in the summer months, with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, where he has been a member of the Artist Faculty since 1994. He was formerly principal oboe of the Naples Philharmonic (1986-96), the Columbus Symphony (1975-80), the Augusta Symphony (1982-86), and the South Carolina Philharmonic (1980-86). Additionally, he has played in the same capacity as a guest performer with groups such as the Charlotte Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, and the Jacksonville Symphony. Ohlsson has many engagements to his credit as a recitalist and chamber musician the US, Canada, Europe, and South America, and has given solo and chamber recitals at venues such as Weill Recital Hall in New York City, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina, with the City Music Chamber Orchestra in Cleveland, at the Casa Rui Barbosa in Rio, at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts in Naples, Florida, and at the Grand Castle of Vianden in Luxembourg, to name a few. He has performed at Conferences of the International Double Reed Society on ten separate occasions. Ohlsson has been a featured soloist with the Naples Philharmonic, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Augusta Symphony, the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, City Music Cleveland, the Brevard Music Center Festival Orchestra and Brevard Sinfonia, the South Carolina Philharmonic, the South Carolina Chamber Orchestra, the Florida State Chamber Orchestra, and the University Orchestras of Florida State University and The Ohio State University. His repertoire includes the concertos of Haydn, Mozart, Strauss, Francaix, Martinu, Vaughan-Williams, and Zwilich.

As a pedagogue, Ohlsson has taught hundreds of young oboists at FSU, Brevard Music Festival, and at the Vianden International Music Festival. Many of these students now hold important positions as university professors, symphonic performers, and educators across the country. He has also taught at the University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Governors School of the Arts, Otterbein College, and Denison University.

His degrees are from The Ohio State University (DMA and MM) and James Madison University (BME). His most influential teachers are John Mack, William Baker, James Caldwell, Ben Wright and Travis Cox.

Collaborative pianist Deloise Chagas Lima is a native of Curitiba, Brazil. She joined the College of Music keyboard faculty at Florida State University in the fall of 2005. During the summer months she has been a member of the artist faculty at the Brevard Music Center since the summer of 2008, and in 2013 she implemented a new collaborative piano program at this festival. Prior to teaching in the United States, Lima was on the faculty of the School of Music and Fine Arts of Parana for over twenty years, teaching collaborative piano and chamber music.

As a sought-after collaborative pianist and orchestral keyboardist, she has performed extensively throughout the US, Europe, and South America with many distinguished artists, including Frank Almond, Sydney Outlaw, David Pittsinger, Paul Edmund Davis, Ian Clarke, Steve Cohen, Bill Ludwig, Joe Luloff, Marianne Gedigian, Amy Porter, Bill Preucil, and Alex Klein, among others. In Brazil, she was the pianist of the Minas Gerais Symphony for two seasons and was a soloist with that orchestra and the Curitiba Chamber Orchestra. She was appointed principal keyboardist of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra in 2015 and she is also an official accompanist for the Florida Flute Association. She is the music director for the Evening of Music and Dance, a yearly collaboration with the Tallahassee Ballet and the College of Music at Florida State University.

Lima received the Bachelor of Piano Performance from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Parana, Brazil, a Performance Certificate in piano from Trinity College of Music, London, and is an Associate of the Royal College of Music in organ performance. Following her early studies, Lima received the Master of Music in Piano Performance and Literature from University of Notre Dame du Lac and the Doctor of Musical Arts from Florida State University.
