About the Artist: The North Florida Suzuki School Guitar Ensemble
The North Florida Suzuki School, a Music Lessons Express program, teaches violin and guitar lessons using the principles and methods developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. At the core of the Suzuki philosophy is the idea that every child has talent and can become a successful, thoughtful, and caring person through studying music. The method approaches music education the same way children learn to speak their native language; through listening, imitation, and repetition in a positive, supportive learning environment. We emphasize musical and personal growth through individual and group instruction, which helps develop technique, musicianship, and kind hearts. The Suzuki guitar program begins with children as young as three and teaches them and their parents how to progress from learning to hold the guitar to playing advanced repertoire while building life skills that will serve them on any journey they take. Our guitar program is led by Dr. Ben Lougheed, the only guitarist in North America who has completed all nine Suzuki book trainings and a doctorate. Students have been selected for the AllState and All-National Guitar ensembles, received perfect scores at Solo and Ensemble, and won numerous prizes in competitions including the Florida Guitar Festival, the Latina Arts Guitar Festival, the Troy University Guitar Festival, the Pensacola Guitar Festival, and the Chicago Guitar Festival. Guitar Ensemble Members Antonia Nowels (14), Donald Hinchman (17), Himank Chhaya (15), Jemmy Qin (12), Kabeer Aggarwal (12), Simon Joos (12), and Terry Lin (16).

About the Artist: Michael Chapdelaine
Uni the has His Bru
Michael Chapdelaine is the only guitarist ever to win First Prize in the world’s top competitions in both the Classical and Fingerstyle genres. From New York’s Lincoln Center to the Cactus Cafe in Austin, from Milano to Bangkok, Chapdelaine continues to enchant and dazzle audiences and critics alike, as he redefines the modern acoustic guitar with his Um amazing technique, “soulful” expressiveness, and versatility as a performer, composer and arranger/producer. In the 80’s and 90’s Chapdelaine proved himself to be one of the worlds finest classical guitarists; twice winning the coveted National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Grant, and taking First Prize in both Val the Guitar Foundation of America’s and the Music Teachers National Association’s Guitar Competitions. He has toured four continents while giving hundreds of performances for Affiliate Artists Inc., and various arts promotion organizations. Equ In 1992 he recorded the Sonata Romantica CD, which many critics and connoisseurs of classical guitar consider to be one of the definitive recordings for the instrument. Acoustic Guitar magazine wrote “… if I were marooned on a desert island with a limited selection of Nu recordings, this one would be among my choices…I have seldom heard a more beautiful album. Other young guitarists have excellent technique, but few have such style and musicality, and Chapdelaine’s beautiful tone is the nearest to Segovia’s that I can recall.” In 1994 Chapdelaine turned his attention to pop music, in arranging, producing and recording Time-Life Music’s beautiful Guitar by Var Moonlight collection, which sold 250,000 copies in it’s first two years in the stores. In 1998, he once again, expanded his musical range and gained instant notoriety and credibility in the “acoustic music” world as a “fingerstyle” guitaristguitarist and composer, by winning the National Fingerpicking “fingerstyle” guitarist andcomposer, composer, bywinning winning theNational National Fingerpicking “fingerstyle” and by the Fingerpicking Championships at Winfield. About the Artist: Stephen Robinson
With his relaxed presence on stage, Stephen Robinson is known for his melodic, gorgeous tone and his ability to move the listener with a single note. “Stephen revealed how a simple musical idea can blossom into an immense emotional message. His interpretation of the work was ethereal… It proved to me that greatness and impact of a musical experience are not dependent upon the technical complexity of its composition.” Gangolf Hontheim, Germany Stephen Robinson’s celebrated career includes extensive touring as a recitalist, collaborative artist, and orchestral soloist. He was commended by The New York Times for his “effortless virtuosity with intelligence and good taste.” Early in his career, Stephen worked closely with the great Andrés Segovia, who called him “a magnificent guitarist, one of the most brilliant guitarists of our times.” Stephen’s eight recordings, recently re-released by Zigg Music, have received unanimous critical acclaim. His CD, Découpage, is a collection of works spanning nearly three centuries, combining recent jewels with timeless standards. Steve Marsh of Classical Guitar noted, “[t]his CD has to be one of the most attractive ones I’ve listened to in quite a while. Robinson’s musicianship is of the highest calibre, his effortless technique allowing him the freedom to do with this music just about anything he wants and what he does do is exceptionally good from every angle. This is music making of high order.” As a pioneer in his field, Stephen was the first recipient of Florida State University’s Doctor of Music in Guitar, founded the Stetson University Guitar Program and the Stetson International Guitar Workshop, and commissioned new works for solo guitar, chamber music with guitar, and guitar and orchestra. He garnered numerous international and national awards, fellowships and grants, including several from the National Endowment for the Arts. He was a Fulbright Fellow, was honored by Stetson University’s Hand Award for Excellence in Research and Creativity, and is an alumnus of the State of Florida Touring Program. Stephen performs exclusively with D’Addario Strings and plays a 2013 Antonius Müller guitar.
