Housing at Florida State University Residence Life at Florida State University fosters lifelong learning for every resident through five tenets: the promotion of responsible citizenship, scholarship, appreciation of differences, personal wellness, and involvement.
Purposeful Programming Mission The Division of Student Affairs collaborates with students, faculty and staff to create welcoming, supportive and challenging environments that maximize opportunities for student learning and success. Through high quality programs, the Division facilitates student development, celebrates differences, and promotes civic and global responsibility.
In 2012, 38% of on-campus residents completed the Association of College and University Housing Officers International/Educational Benchmarking Incorporated (ACUHO-I) Resident Assessment. When compared to 42 Carnegie classification peers, FSU ranked 6th for resident satisfaction with the sense of community in halls and 3rd in satisfaction with hall programming. The impact of college is largely determined by the student’s efforts and engagement in academic and co-curricular opportunities (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). Students who live in an in oncampus residence hall are more likely (p<.05) to get involved in campus activities throughout their time at FSU.
