Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) Freshman Survey Data Trends by Decade Each year, Florida State University participates in the CIRP Freshman Survey facilitated by UCLA’s Higher Education Research Institute. Over the past 30 years, more than 103,000 freshmen entering FSU have participated in this survey (See Appendix). The FSU longitudinal CIRP data1 from 1979 to 2008 are aggregated by decade for trend analysis2. The most recent data from 2010 and 2011 are presented in separate columns for reference.

The CIRP Freshman Survey has been revised over the years of FSU participation. The table cells with N/A represent the change in questions, which caused inconsistency of data and decade trend analysis. 2 The Decade Trend column represents the magnitude of change between decades. The categories are defined as: Static: accumulated percentage change is less than 5%; Upward: accumulated percentage increase is equal or larger than 5%; Downward: accumulated percentage decrease is larger than 5%.
