The Garnet & Gold Scholar Society (GGSS) encourages student involvement beyond the classroom and reflection in the areas of Leadership, Internship, Service, International and Research.

Program Completions The GGSS finished year two with over three times more students completing the program requirements. Since Spring 2011, 129 students have been recognized as Scholars.

Program Growth The GGSS saw a 10% increase this year in the number of intents to participate submitted. Faculty and staff in the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs serve as Engagement Area Approvers (35) and Overall Program Advisors (66). A full-time Coordinator will be hired this summer to manage the program.

A Closer Look A sample of students who recently completed GGSS engaged in focus groups to discuss their experiences. The findings showed participation in GGSS provided students with the opportunity to reflect on their experiences outside of the classroom and better articulate lessons learned.
