Health & Wellness

Mission The Division of Student Affairs collaborates with students, faculty and staff to create welcoming, supportive and challenging environments that maximize opportunities for student learning and success. Through high quality programs, the Division facilitates student development, celebrates differences, and promotes civic and global responsibility. photos: Above: Health & Wellness Building (Photo courtesy of LLT Building Corp.)Bottom Left: Students enjoying the Safer Spring Break event on the Union Green (University Health Services) page 2: Top to Bottom: Fitness and Movement Clinic (Campus Recreation) First Responders (University Health Services), First Responder Unit 5k Annual Run 2012 (University Health Services)

Florida State University espouses the value vires, signifying strength—moral, physical, and intellectual. Thus, health and wellness are central to the Student Affairs mission, and research suggests that purposeful activity during college enhances good health habits later in life (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005).

Academic Impediments The Healthy Campus 2020 committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students from across campus uses data from the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment to target programming.
