he international fair ANGA Cable 2011 provided Fte maximal with the opportunity to demonstrate real proof of the success of a solid entrepreneurial project. A combination of own R&D and engineering, as well as optimized European production facilities, ensured that BCN Distribuciones were able to exhibit at this international event working models of these projects and provide a totally new range of solutions dedicated to professional installers. From the beginning, the objective of attending this show was to exhibit and demonstrate a broad range of high-end professional products, all in perfect working order with the possibility to interact with them. And this has been the key to the huge interest aroused by our booth, which attracted during the three days of the fair, hundreds of visitors from over 20 different countries. The booth was structured in six different sectors, each of them oriented to a different range of products: 1.- Digital Headends. DVB-S / DVB-T to PAL. Professional headend modules with QPSK / COFDM input and analog output (PAL), in two different versions: free-to-air and Common Interface. 2.- HD Digital Headends. DVB-S2 / DVB-T to PAL. In this section was shown our Fte maximal products for converting MPEG-4 encrypted channels to PAL. This solution has been approved and installed by several operators such Portugal Telecom and Canal Digitaal in the Netherlands. 3.- IP View Media Solutions. Another important innovation is the remote control module RCM 310, fullycompatible with 310 headend series. It displays a simulation of a real installation with several actuators emulating alarms and the RCM 310 transmits messages to the installation supervisor. 6.- Digital Transmodulators. Finally, we presented the transmodulators digital-to-digital, one of the ranges with greater current and future capabilities among all the innovations presented at the fair. A complete solution composed of modules with QPSK, 8PSK and COFDM inputs and QAM and COFDM outputs, all in versions free-to-air and Common Interface. Moreover Fte maximal introduced a new encoder A/V to COFDM and a power amplifier for broadcasting installations. In every section of the booth was displayed the most advanced model in the range of professional signal meters, MINI S2CT, with the possibility to take measurements of DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T and DVB-C signals. It also has the “MAP function” for programming headends directly with the meter, a unique solution on the market (patent pending). In short, the 2011 ANGA Cable show became for Fte maximal a milestone in the commercial launch of a complete professional range, which has received praise from both customers and competitors. This issue of Fte News is a summary of all products and professional solutions presented at the fair, which represents the core business of the company.

DVB 310 Series: MPEG-2 / MPEG-4 to PAL Reception At ANGA 2011, Fte maximal dedicated prime space to the DVB-S2, DVB-S and DVB-T headend devices with a PAL outlet that has become so relevant in the market. These devices make it possible to receive digital terrestrial and satellite signals that are subsequently modulated into analog signals for use in an existing installation.

As published in Fte News 04, Canal Digitaal Holland has changed their services to MPEG-4 and have chosen the DVB 300 S HD headends as a solution in installations where MPEG-2 satellite receivers had previously been installed. This operator typically uses a configuration consisting of two DVB 300 S HD receivers for decrypting and distributing Premium services (Film 1 and Sport 1 in Astra 3 23,5ºE). Subsequently the content is modulated with the dual MTW 310 vestigial modulator and amplified with the AMP 310 P so it can be distributed around the existing distribution network. Another notable example is the project carried out for Portugal Telecom, a Portuguese operator, that provides a solution comprising 28 DVB 300 S HD modules, 14 MTW 310, mixed and amplified with a MUX 310 and an AMP 310 P to satisfy the need to transform MPEG-4 content so it can be reproduced in hotel installations that are not prepared for that type of compression.

This professional headend family has a market in many different unique installations, such as hotels and hospitals, where different channels need to be distributed in analog cal signals due to the lack of TVs with DVB-T tuners or the impossibility of adding a digital receiver in each room.

Given the climate of important technological changes in satellite and terrestrial reception, where HD (MPEG-4) content is now being offered, Fte maximal is in a position to show, once again, our capacity to innovate and adapt to market needs, providing solutions that are complete and satisfactory.

Our range of product include the following references: - DVB 300 S HD: DVB-S2 (8PSK / QPSK) in MPEG-4 - (HD SD) and MPEG-2 + 1 slot CI  PAL - DVB 300 S HD: DVB-T (COFDM) in MPEG-4 (HD/SD) - and MPEG-2  PAL - DVB 310 S: DVB-S (QPSK) in MPEG-2  PAL - DVB 310 S CI: DVB-S (QPSK) in MPEG-2 + 1 slot - CI PAL - DVB 310 T: DVB-T (COFDM) in MPEG-2  PAL - DVB 310 T CI: DVB-T (COFDM) in MPEG-2 + 1 slot - CI PAL Fte maximal offers modules that integrate Common Interface so they can be used for encrypted channels, after prior agreement with the operator. In this series, special mention should be made to the HD modules (DVB 300 T HD, DVB 300 S HD) that make it possible to tune into HD content and add it to the installation. This is especially useful in installations where the TVs are not ready to receive signals with MPEG-4 compression.

Anga Cable 2011 Fte maximal IP CAS Solution Recently, Fte Maximal has presented a solution for headends to distribute encrypted and non-encrypted services. The new system permits IP-based network delivery of pay TV services. At the same time, it does not prevent encrypted and non-encrypted multiplexes coming from a multiplexer from being transmodulated to a different system, such as DVB-C and distributed over cable networks, for instance.

It is a rackable IP-based solution comprising: 6U IP receivers, 1U Gigabyte switch, 1U Multiplexer/Demultiplexer with scrambler and 1U CAS, Conditional Access System. Signals captured in DVB-S/S2, DVB-T or DVB-C formats are decoded using our IPx-310/IPX-310-CI, if they are CI receivers, demultiplexed and streamed in IP, Unicast or Multicast, in UDP/ RTP formats, up to 14 services simultaneously. It also allows direct MPTS encapsulation into IP, up to 60 Mbps, so the whole multiplex can be streamed. EIT/EPG demultiplexing is implemented for independent SPTS services, one per IP address. PAT, PMT and SDT are regenerated likewise. Apart from the UDP/ RTP, it also supports SAP/SDP announcements, SNMP for management and control, and IGMP V1, V2 for exchanging membership status information between routers. All these signals coming from IP headends are entered in our SWI2410 switch, which acts as an IP signal concentrator distributor to and from the various devices. Key minimal requirements are that is must support IGMP snooping

and it must be a Gigabyte. Although IP headends can hardly attain outflows higher than 40Mbps or 50Mbps, the PMX input/output port or any other main port will, providing it is an IP distribution signal. Once we have all the IP services, we will enter them in the PMX, which is capable of receiving multiple MPTS/ SPTS multiplex over IP and delivering up to 8 multiplex over IP with a maximum of 25 services on each. The PMX allows the re-multiplexing of multiple services, including PID filtering and remapping, as well as the insertion/regeneration of PSI/SI tables, which will change dynamically when input signals change. The tables regenerator supports the insertion of LCN, EPG and EIT multiplexing. It supports the same network protocols as the IP headends. Optionally, as in this case, a DVB-CSA scrambler with a SimulCrypt interface can be included for excryption with several CAS at the same time. IPx-310/IPx-310-CI and PMX modules are very easy to configure using IPLANTV Manager as the common software tool. Finally, to complete the system, the password server, CAS, needs to be connected, either through the SWI2410 port or directly to the PMX’s second port. This system will control access to content so only subscribers can view it. It generates the Control Words that are encrypted and travel to the receiver as ECMs during broadcasting. The receiver’s CA only decrypts the Control Word when authorised to do so via an EMM. The latter are specific to each individual or group subscriber, and are identified via a SmartCard. At this point, we would have an IP signal with several or all services encrypted and ready to be distributed over an IP network of transmodulated to another system. The equipment presented at ANGA Cable used a SafeView CAS transmodulated to DVB-C with a fourchannel QAM. The signal thus generated was decoded in a cable HD Fte maximal receiver with Conax7 support, since SafeView is decodable in Conax

Remote Control Unit: RCM 310 In a globalized world where distances are relative, closeness to installations proximity has always been a key requirement. That is why Fte maximal has developed a remote control and monitoring unit that allows installers to provide unprecedented quality of service as a distinguishing feature in any project. This new device, marketed under the trade name of RCM 310 allows installers to offer services that until now had to be carried out directly on an installation from anywhere in the world. Monitoring: The RCM 310 monitors the status of our headend constantly, with regard to level and quality of the input signal in each module to the output signal. It responds instantly to any problem involving signal level, noise margin and quality. This can be done thanks to the integration of a tuner inside the remote control unit that monitors the RF signal constantly, serving as a field strenght meter. Remote control: The RCM 310 means it is no longer necessary to be present at an installation to change, update or reprogramme a device. No travelling is required. Now all operations can be performed remotely by internet from any device anywhere in the world. This is a very significant step forward in the quality of the service provided. You can even reset packages of satellite channels remotely and in a matter of minutes thanks to the DiSEqC function in each Fte maximal frontend module.

RCM 310 remote control unit, this is easy to do remotely from any computer, without have to go to the installation in person. Warnings: The remote control unit is equipped to send notice of events and alarms occurring in the installation via emails and SMS. You can access the device’s configuration via a website server inside the module, which you can access from any navigator once the device is connected to the Internet. It is also equipped with a GPRS modem to ensure access to the device’s configuration from any area.

External input reports: The RCM 310 is designed with four inputs for connection to any external sensor, allowing you to control your headend and have constant, detailed information on any element in the environment or surrounding area with the potential to damage the installation, such an increase in temperature, humidity or the presence of unauthorised persons. Control of other installation elements: There are four relays inside the RCM 310 that serve to activate any device, such as air conditioning and alarms. The functions can be performed automatically or triggered by input from an alarm or an incoming SMS. Updating: Professional telecom devices require regular maintenance and software updates. With the
