Starting Line to Checkered Flag…

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Sacrifice - surrender of something for the sake of someone else. (Webster)

Sacrifice – giving up your seat or place in line for an elderly or disabled person.

Sacrifice – pulling off the trail to stay with an injured rider even though you were first overall.

Sacrifice – on the battlefield, falling on a live grenade to save the other members of your team.

Sacrifice – 9/11, running into collapsing skyscrapers to save those inside.

Sacrifice – Giving your life up on a cross to pay for the sins of the entire world.

In the gospel of John chapter 15, verse 13, it reads, “The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them.”

When Jesus spoke this to his disciples, He was preparing them for His coming crucifixion. In less than a day He would voluntarily take on the sins of the world and pay the price for all of us, once and for all, forever… if we only believe.

As we approach Resurrection Day (Easter), please take the time to consider how much Jesus loves you; so much that He calls you friend; so much that He gave up His life so you, by believing in Him, will have everlasting life with Him. That is true Sacrifice and true love!
