Reality Check 101
As I write this our season is almost complete and it’s been a year since we were cut short on our schedule. It’s hard to believe that the 2021/22 schedule has been put together for next year and summer time is just a month or so away.

Reflecting back during the year reminds me of just how much time and effort it takes to have a successful series. I am proud to say that our organization takes a back seat to no one and that FTR is constantly reminded of how popular and how well our events are run. All of this is a reflection of our dedicated volunteers and clubs that make it happen. I know I have touched on this before but I don’t think it can be said enough, it takes a lot of people to keep the wheels turning smoothly and efficiently. Every little act of unselfishness contributes to the overall result for our families, members and club personnel. Besides our regular crew that is a piece of the puzzle on race weekends, our members also can help make it a successful event by contributing to the big picture by doing little things.
Everything from having your paperwork in order during sign-up, having the correct numbers and backgrounds along with spark arrestors will make you, the clubs and tech go smoothly and quickly. Being aware of your travels through the pits and where your family is at, especially at night, all helps in having a stress free weekend. Showing up dressed properly at our fun runs with long pants, boots, helmet and eye protection only adds to the enjoyment for you and the officials when they don’t have to turn you away.
Being aware of what we have going for us should never be taken for granted as it could be taken away if our clubs get tired of having to babysit you and your family because you act irresponsible. This may sound harsh but its reality. Not everyone gets a participation award, results have to be earned and there is no cry room available. We are all in this together and we all are here because we want to be because we enjoy the sport of offroad.
Take a look around any event when you roll through the gate and until you roll out, notice the amount of work it took to allow you to come in, ride, camp for the weekend and have a great time. Some of you just come for one day and that’s fine, just show respect and appreciation as you unload, race and load back up. Our organization is what you make of it; if you treat it good it will return the favor.
