Stay on point
Here we are in the middle of summer with a little over a month to go before we go racing again. With the first event over the Labor Day weekend at the LBJ enduro, hopefully everyone has done a little riding to keep the rust from forming on your bike and yourself.

I have tried to keep the blood flowing by making weekly visits to the sand monster known as Croom, especially right after the rains as it seems everyone else has the same idea. Rolling up to the gate at 7:15 only to be about the sixth person in line tells me that everyone has the same idea, get there early, put in your miles and go home by noon.
The usual spot to gather has now split into two areas, us senior citizens always grab the trees whereas the young guns spread out in the shadeless sand parking area across from us.
As always, I make my rounds to see who is here and it’s the same guys with black number plates with A’s and X’s already bench racing. First ride consists of about a 12 mile loop and back to the truck we go. I swing by the beach side to see if any of the FTR young guns are here and the first rippa I run into is the one and only magazine editor. Must have been a late night as it looks like he just rolled in and was already breaking a sweat, don’t know exactly what that means but have an idea. LOL All in all, always a good time riding with the FTR guys and kids that makes quick work of us old guys.
A quick reminder, get your FTR and AMA membership done now, online and easy. Minor release cards, parents get them done now. It takes a couple weeks to process from the AMA, don’t stand in line filling out paperwork at the first race, act now!
For those that have not heard, FTR has moved to the MotoTally sign up and scoring process as we start our new season. What this means is once you stop by the club sign up, purchase a new transponder, you take your helmet to the FTR sign up to get scanned and that’s it you are signed up. More details are coming but that is basically it, fast and simple.
In the meantime, get those bikes out and start riding. The season is almost here.
Thanks for listening, Randy
