Back in the saddle, FINALLY
I’m pretty late with this month’s article (sorry Kurt) but wanted to get our first event in the books before we went to print. I don’t really know where to start as it was an awesome weekend for all of us.

First and foremost, thank you to CFTR for setting the bar extremely high for all of the rest of the clubs to try and match. Many months went into the planning and work for this event and it resulted in an epic weekend. A record turnout invaded the property with everyone looking to get back to riding and having fun again after a six month layoff.
This event took on a lot of extra planning and the work load was off the chart as we tried to incorporate some of our banquet activities into the race weekend with the awards and giveaways, which took on a whole new meaning.
Speaking of awards, a shout out to the Eastcoast crew of Scott and Michelle Dawson who manned the trailer both days to make sure that our riders received their awards and AMA plates. All the sign up ladies, FTR store/business manager Darlene, Dan handling the AMA, Teresa working the quilt and Moose giveaways and all the people that give so much of their time to make things happen, a big Thank You.
Speaking of making things work, I got to give a big “well done” and a Thank You to the FTR Tech crew for handling well over 1000 riders with transponders, numbers, spark arrestors and answering hundreds of questions during the two day event. I’m sure they helped some of you out with a pass or taped up your background to get you to the line, but next event come prepared and have your ducks in a row as you know now what is required and expected.
Expanding on this weekend or any race weekend, these events takes a huge amount of time, planning, dedication and will power from the promoting clubs and volunteers. From securing the property, cutting trail in the middle of August to cleaning up and reclaiming the land from the abuse, a lot of time goes into these events. As my clubs event is at the end of Oct, we have been out working since August also and I’m here to tell you that it is absolutely miserably hot and humid, so I can relate to all that CFTR members went through to host their event. The best thing that we can do to show appreciation for all of this work is to leave our campsites clean and tell the clubs Thank You!
Let’s all try and be a little more appreciative and be thankful we all have a place to go race. There’s a bunch more races coming up and that means a bunch more work to be done by a lot of volunteers as we are just getting started.
Thanks for listening,
Randy Faul
