HEALTH AND WELLESS FIN A L S T UDEN T E XHIBIT ION | SPRING 201 8
LANDSCAPE & ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The Florence University of the Arts student exhibition “Health & Wellness”, that will take place at the CORRIDOIO FIORENTINO focuses on the combination of tradition and wellness. Eating healthily, art therapy, local food and wine, nature and contemplations of daily life turn out to be the center of attention nowadays. These concepts have acquired relevance in the lifestyle of many people and are the concepts that define the artwork of the students: graphics, photo, animation and interior design. Understanding tradition as something that is not static, but as something that connects the past to the present and allows the new generations to build an innovative future, is the lens through which this compilation arises. The topic of the tradition has become essential for innovation and a way of remembering the values that will shape the future, creating new experiences and stimulating the creativity of groups of people. This new and exciting way of living, eating, and traveling that has emerged has become a way of preserving traditional cultures and natural resources, whilst at the same time stimulates local entrepreneurship and allows communities to share their customs and traditions with each other, bringing about the possibility of creating new art expressions together.
This exhibit was curated by the FUA Experiential Learning course Gallery Exhibition and Curating Coordinated by Prof. Giovanni Rossiello

This work was entirely done on Adobe Photoshop. When I I started to realise that I was becoming all too comfortable with utilising almost exclusively vector based designs. This artwork is an example of challenging myself to become more comfortable with Photoshop. This work was created specifically for this exposĂŠ as my own way of combining the ideas of health, wellness, art, and digital imaging.

Definition of wellness (wElnəs/noun) The state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. "What is wellness to you" is a video that gives different points of view about what this word means to people. The morphing technique was used to represent the varieties of the answer to the question. Some think that wellness is a state of mind. We decided to use different words and different representations because this word can embody so many qualities. We start with the concept that wellness means nature and peace. Then we move the focus on something different: wellness can also mean happiness and mental health. For some people this concept is close to the idea of recycling and for other people it can represent the wellness obtained through food and exercise. We decided to conclude the video with the concept of physical activity, because we think it this that most closely embodies wellness. NORA FERRUCCI

in the constantly changing digital market. By stripping away the technical side of standard cameras, the students were able to understand the elements of a good photograph, learn how to recognise favorable lighting and approach different subjects with confidence. Composing, shooting and editing their photos directly on their phones allowed them to connect the event and the photo to the world in real time. Shown here are some examples of their work.

explored the world of fashion photography. Starting from camera settings and techniques they have developed a vision and a way to express themselves through the styling and direction of fashion shootings. They have learned how to show a dress, the importance of photography for the fashion industry, how to work with models and plan a small ad campaign working in collaboration with real clients and brands. Shown here is an example of their work.

One of the components that make our body healthy is to eat well. The large food chains offer a low-cost diet, but it is processed and poor in nutrients. The work of Corinne Ciraldo and Caroline Arcangeli emphasizes the choice of a healthy diet and fresh products that can be purchased at low prices and that are found in PHOTOJOURNALISM
Italian local markets. This work emphasized the human component of the contact between direct seller and customer and the variety of products that can be found in the Italian markets.

The purpose of this project was to develop a cool space, and more specifically a place that blends a warm and friendly style with the latest trends in aesthetics, in a fusion of materials and niches which create an inviting atmosphere and complement the concepts of health and wellness. Attention to colors was also required, which prevails throughout the bar cafeteria and gives a stylish and chic note. Moreover, the use of materials, accurate niches and furnishings for the bar and the dining/dinner area, along with the attention to detail in the bathroom design, the lighting, and highlighting on doors and wall coverings, will give the entire ambience a warm and natural touch, perfect for relaxing during clientele leisure time.

A breath inside a classic Florentine building, a place where cuisine in company of good music. Paintings, furniture and design objects in each corner fill the space of possibilities for art lovers. The care of the materials and the processes used for the remodeling of the space are the foundation of this project. The design is the mixture between two styles that allows to create a comfortable environment for the operation of the locale and warmth for the costumers, the industrial and midcentury styles. The location's main space is the central terrace, which seeks to impact the users' senses as if surrounded by trees, through the lighting created by a metal latticework.

FIORITURA Fresh. Delicious. Simple. Fioritura in Italian means bloom. We chose this name because it reflects not only the design of the bar cafeteria, but also the philosophy behind it. The main theme of the restaraunt is inspired by natural elements. We incorporated a living wall, floral patterns, and light colors in order to promote health and wellbeing. The living wall acts as a natural filtration system for the air, reduces energy costs and reduces noise pollution; this leads to happier costumers and a better interior environment. In addition to the living wall, we have allowed the most sunlight possible in the bar cafeteria, in order to improve not only the customers' wellbeing, but the staff's as well. As far as food goes, the restaraunt will serve salads, mixed vegetables, protiens, fresh drinks, and options for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten and dairy-free diets, with a focus on local produce and allowing light to nourish the food. Welcome to our fresh bar cafeteria!

Gatsby’s provides the relatively informal dining experience of a bar cafeteria, designed with a mixture of an industrial style that includes art deco influences. The industrial look creates an illusion of rough surfaces and materials that suggest an brick walls, exposed ceilings and the incorporation and use of various metals. The industrial aspect of the space will utilize muted colors that are warm and natural. The use of these elements creates an informal, yet comfortable and relaxing environment. Furthermore, to add interest to Gatsby’s, making it a one-of-a-kind restaurant experience, art deco instances are infused throughout the entirety of space. Distinct pops of gold and emerald greens can be found throughout the restaurant, adding some resemblance of luxury, while maintaining an informal atmosphere.
