Florence's artisan culture is a rich one, based on centuries of traditions and skills and apprentices learning from their maestri. Even today, the city's artisans are still active and as proud as ever of their work, many still working in the most traditional of ways, while others have modernised their crafts to suit contemporary ways. Florence is a diverse city in which artisanal creation is of much more importance than other large cities around the world. This is because of the neighbourhood atmosphere and lack of big spaces for large chain stores and businesses. This exhibit presents a closer look into these artisans and their crafts, making it important to note the way their craft has shaped their hands over time.

PHOTOJOURNALISM Intermediate level students advanced their knowledge of the principles of digital photography andacquired the foundations of their visual vocabulary. Students applied techniques obtained during the course to a specific photographic genre: photojournalism. The class gives them the tools necessary to explore a new culture with an inquisitive approach, encouraging them to look at the human stories that create the fabric of the city of Florence and of Italian culture in general. In this exhibit, we present a selection of their achievements.
