Itesm chapel monterrey, Nuevo leon, mexico fall semester, 2009
site
located in the heart of the ITESM Monterey Campus. The task was to design a Secular Campus Chapel, consisting in individual chapels and a large space for prayers and celebrations.
concept Inspired in the mit chapel by eero saarinen, the program was lifted from the ground level using rectangular columns. Four small chapels are organized in a cruciform floor plan. a large space designed for celebrations for people of all creeds and religions, rests above these chapels. This cylinder is surrounded by a void that is enclosed by a larger cylinder. This void enables the light to travel from the upper window to the ground level, illuminating the whole chapel.

independencia apartments monterrey, Nuevo leon, mexico spring semester, 2010
site
located in the independencia neighborhood. the task consisted in designing an apartment building for the medium class that would benefit from the views to Monterrey’s downtown located to the north.
concept The apartments were required to have a surface of 135 m2. For the optimum use of space, four areas where identified: private areas, circulations core, service areas and public areas. Each area was designed to fit in a 5m x 7m x 3m module. By moving these modules back and forth, terraces where generated, increasing the apartment’s surface by 15%.

site
located in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, the competition consisted in designing a media park to help solve the problems of violence and insecurity, reducing social segregation.
concept
The project consists basically of three layers. The first one, the plaza originates by lifting the building above the ground level.. This plaza is designed to unite society and create encounters among the citizens. The program is contained in the second level, taking the form of arms that create relations between the project and the site. The third level is intended to become a skate park, a place where the youth can enjoy extreme sports. Finally, the central volume houses a multipurpose space that connects the three layers of the project.

ctr building chihuahua, chihuahua, mexico july & agust, 2011
site
located in a newly regenerated park, the competition consisted in designing a building that would set a new paradigm for the vertical growth in the city.
concept as urban sprawl is an important issue in the cities of northern mexico, a new paradigm for the cities growth was to be proposed. a main volume, the spinal cord, serves as the structure for the project, housing both service and circulation cores. Iso containers plug in to the spinal cord, providing a suitable space for offices. joining several containers offers the possibility of creating larger spaces. a large curtain call wrapping an internal void serves as unifying element relating every level to the others as well as the building with the city.
