1 itesm chapel

Monterrey, Nuevo Le贸n, M茅xico Fall Semester, 2009

Spirituality through light Inspired in the MIT chapel by Eero Saarinen, the program was lifted from the ground level using rectangular columns. Four small chapels are organized in a cruciform floor plan. A large space designed for celebrations for people of all creeds and religions, rests above these chapels. The cylinder is surrounded by a void that is enclosed by a larger cylinder. This void enables the light to travel from the upper window to the ground level, illuminating the whole chapel.

2 La Noria House

Santiago, Nuevo Le贸n, M茅xico Spring Semester, 2011

Embracing nature located in a secluded neighborhood of Santiago county, the site benefits from the proximity of the Sierra Madre Oriental, as well as from views to the east, south and west. The project is made up by three volumes embracing the project’s heart located on the southwest side of the site. The first volume, on the first floor, contains common and recreation areas, while the second level houses one of the three bedrooms. The central volume contains circulation and service areas. Finally, the third volume houses private areas, composed by the master bedroom on the first level and a second bedroom on the upper level.

Chihuahua, Chihuahua, MĂŠxico Summer, 2011

Redefining paradigms As urban sprawl is an important issue in the cities of northern MĂŠxico, a new paradigm for the cities growth was to be proposed. A main volume, the spinal cord, serves as the structure for the project, housing both service and circulation cores. ISO containers plug in to the spinal cord, providing a suitable space for offices. Joining several containers offers the possibility of creating larger spaces. A large curtain wall wrapping an internal void serves as unifying element relating every level to the others as well as the building with the city.

One with the mountain A mix-use complex, located in a very steep site, erupts from the ÂŤCerro del ObispadoÂť (Obispado Hill) in search for the best views of the city. The uniqueness of the site, called for a concept in which the program was lifted from the ground, creating a powerful public space. The circular form was chosen over a square one due to its increased perimeter, generating breathtaking vistas. With an area over 100,000 sq ft, the program consists of 28 apartments and 250,000 sq ft dedicated to commercial and retail use.
