CONTENTS ATMOSPHERE During my study and experience, I regard architectural atmosphere as a fundamental aspect of architecture. Thanks to Zumthor’s Atmosphere, I found this specific explanation. This fundamentality here is that, on one hand, emotions and experiences give us a spontaneous emotional response to architecture; on the other hand, we perceive the building through our bodies - touching its material texture, hearing its sound, seeing its light and feeling its temperature.

01 The resilient wall Location: Shang city, Guancheng District, Zhengzhou, China Academic / Individual Work 16/9/2021 Senior Instructor: Peng Yuzhou e: andrewpengyz@outlook.com
Torrential rain hit the central part of Henan province, China on July 20, 2021, which negatively affected more than 144,660 residents. More than 10,000 were relocated to safer places. The city of Zhengzhou was lashed by rainstorms, with the serious water logging casing traffic problems and power outages. This project is about the urban design in response to flood disaster prevention and control.
Urbanization There are three main factors contributing to zhengzhou's flooding: climate, topography and urbanization.

02 Food market in the gallery Location: Taohuawu Historical and Cultural area, Suzhou , China Academic / Individual Work 22/6/2021 Senior Instructor: Zhang Nan e: Zhangnan_arch@163.com
By restoring the function and form of the public space, the design intends to regenerate the missing vitality and keep alive local culture (the unique traditional handicraft) in the community. Meanwhile, it enhances the communication between people and the community and brings about the interaction between life and art.

Axonometric drawing People gather, play and relax in the square around the building. They can enter the building through the two entrances on the exhibition hall and enjoy taohuawu's handicrafts in the gallery. Then people can walk along the gallery and access the food market and dining area at the top, where they can see the colorful exhibition about life.
Unconventional art galleries and food markets bring fresh experiences to the community. The gallery serves as a unique route to the food market.
As the museum's final exhibition hall, the food Market offers senses of smells, vibrant colors and dynamic atmosphere of life. It encourages people to discover art from life and enjoy life from art.

When the harmonious tones and layout of his paintings are interpreted, the design intends to create an observation path which has embedded progressive spaces and changes of colors, to bring different perspectives and to enrich one's visual experiences, encouraging people to feel, to imagine and to create.

The Yellow River
04 Rafting stage on the Yellow River Location: The upper reaches to the lower reaches of the Yellow River, China Academic / Individual Work 16/5/2020 Junior Instructor: Xu Hao e: hao.xu.hx94@yale.edu
The design of a rafting stage is presented via a cinematic narration. Through observation over space and time, the scheme, structure and the use of the Rafting stage in the design are well presented. The design reflects on the change of history, the transmission of information and the exchange of cultures.

The Yellow River tour Through another narrative process, the scenes show the singers’ experience of using the rafting stage during the tour. Architecture exists in many ways, and the design makes it physically and virtually accessible to people.
